It was my freshmen orientation at Keystone College, a small private school outside Scranton PA, and the day was running smoothly until we started to go home. My twin brother, Matt went with me because we were both going to that school, so he was driving, like always. Our parents went with us to orientation and they were following Matt and I back to our house on Route I-84.
Matt and I were cruising along listening to Assorted Jelly Beans when I felt something in the back of my throat. I looked in the mirror and found some white crap on my tonsils so I stuck my finger in my throat and tried to get it out. I'm sorry if I'm grossing you out. When I finally got it, I had to spit it out. I hocked up a huge amount of flem and spit that sucker out the window. Whack!! It came right back into my face. I was pissed that I spit all over my face so I had to stick my head farther out the window I guess. Well I was wrong. I stuck my head out and tried to spit but instead of the spit flying out of my mouth, my glasses went flying off my face. I screamed "HOLY SHIT!.. MATT STOP THE CAR!!"
So we pulled over onto the shoulder of I-84, just right outside of Milford, PA. My parents pulled over because they knew something was up. We looked on the grass, on the shoulder in about a mile radius and found nothing. I scouted out ahead to see if it was way back and I had my head down looking for my glasses. The next thing I knew, I looked up and a police car comes slowly into my presence. They asked what I was doing and I told them "Well I had something in my throat and had to spit it out and it went back into my face. So I stuck my head out farther and my glasses went flying off." They were smiling and couldn't believe that happened to me.
They got out of their car and helped us look for them. One of the police officers walked a couple of feet to where I was standing and right on the shoulder of the highway was my glasses. He picked them up and laughed and told me I was lucky. I looked at them and there was one little scratch on them. I told the cops thanks for helping out and we went back home. I felt like an idiot that day and was quite embarrassed. My advice is to not spit out of the window if you have glasses on. The glasses that flew off my face are on my face as I type this. |
