It’s another cartoon TV show that never made it past the first season. Actually, I don’t even think it made it through a whole season. I assume it was cancelled partway through, but they decided to release all 13 episodes on DVD.
The premise is as follows: God (voiced by James Garner) is getting fed up with his creation of man and is about to get rid of the whole universe and start again from scratch. Not quite ready to scrap everything, he decides to give Man a second chance. If one person can prove that the world is worth saving, he will spare it all. Being a “sporting” kind of God, he lets the Devil (Alan Cumming) pick the representative for humanity. The Devil picks Bob Alman (French Stewart).
I will say this, I liked this show. The humor was mostly dry, kind of subdued, but there were still elements of slapstick which combined nicely. I liked their depiction of God as all-knowing, yet having the qualities of humans which are supposedly made in his image. The Devil was kind of whiny, which could get really annoying, but it was amusing enough when the two of them were in the same scene.
With that said, I can understand why the show was cancelled. It took a couple episodes to warm up enough to the characters to make you want to watch more episodes which you can do when you have them all in front of you, but on a week to week basis, it was obviously rough.. A lot of the humor was religious based, so if you aren’t familiar with Christianity, you wouldn’t get all the jokes… and chances are, if you’re that knowledgeable with the religious aspects, you have no sense of humor anyway.

I have to admit that I was impressed with these guys. I had never heard them before, only heard of them. When I got it, I had prejudices just from feelings or something, but after listening to it, I find myself going back to it again. Well done and put together, these guys have a more melodic style to their music which I really like. 12 tracks of punk contrive a fairly decent album. Not necessarily my first choice to pop in the CD player, but do not let that stop you from checking it out. If you can find it, pick it up, it’s a good addition.

The second installment of the AntiBush Compilation is out, and should be bought regardless of the bands on them, but that’s neither here nor there. This Vol. features a few more tracks than the first, and although it has bigger names (Green Day, Bad Religion, Operation Ivy, Foo Fighters, Rancid, No Doubt, Dropkick Murphys) the overall sound of the CD is more monotonous than the last. It’s more of a straightforward punk comp this time, with 20 rare and live songs, and a total of 28 tracks. Yet, I think the first one had more of a variety and was an overall better comp. Still, the choices of songs for the bands on here (also including: Flogging Molly, the Lawrence Arms, No Use for a Name, Yellowcard, Mad Caddies, Sick of it All, Bouncing Souls) create a better variety than most comps out there. Bottom Line: Overall, a damn good comp, and everyone should own it Notable Tracks: Green Day – Favorite Son, Flogging Molly – Drunken Lullabies, Lagwagon – Status Pools, No Use for a Name – Fields of Agony Rating: Reviewer:

I saw this cd in some store, and it was only three bucks, so I figured what the hell, why not… Well, its pretty good. It covers a sorta wide base of ska, punk, and hardcore. Includes songs from: Snuff, Mustard Plug, Toasters, Strife, the Smooths, MU330, Assorted Jellybeans. All in all, pretty good. Not the greatest, but it’s a variety and its cheap. suggested, but not reccomended.

I have never really listened to an entire album before, but this one made me keep listening. They have this kind of street punk/ Irish folk rock sound that I never knew could be mixed, but they do it. Now, I am not a big street punk fan, but I have this soft spot in my heart for the Pogues, and, well, I like it. Check out “Watching the Wayfarers,” “Playboys, Punks, and Pretty Things,” and, “Step Inside This Room.” All in all a good CD. Get it where you can I would say. Too bad my copy now has to go to the twins…

You know what, I just listened to this CD, and remember liking it alot, but I can’t think of much right now because Bud Bundy is walking around with boobs. Too many distractions over here. Anyway, if you have heard their stuff before, and liked it, chances are you will like this one. If you haven’t heard their stuff, this is a good one to start out with. You can definately hear the metal influence in these tracks. Check it out. Perhaps borrow it from a friend first, but definately pick it up and not just so support the band. It’s good shit.

The newest release from Strung Out… It was about four years ago that Twisted Design came out, and fans have been waiting. Rather than just throw crap together, Strung Out took their time in the studio, and the result is great. Technical riffs, but melodic vocals and rhythms keep you wanting more. The insert is this big ‘ol poster, and if you’re one of the lucky ones to get a limited pressing, you get more shit. Cool, huh? OK, so go get it fucko’s b/c you know you want it.

I love these guys, and I was not let down with the newest from the British band, Numbnuts. It’s kind of back to straight forward punk rock on this one. There are less of the more catchy songs like “Thief” and “Nick Motown,” and more of the aggressive in your face (I really dislike that phrase) punk, but I am not upset. This is a really good album. If you like Snuff, especially the stuff off of “Snuff Said” then you will love this new one. 14 tracks in all, each one as energetic as the last. “Reach,” “Pixies,” and “Fuck Off” are some highlights. Good quality, and loads of fun. Enjoy.
