The day that Mr. Rogers died

Posted on April 23th 2008
For most people, some of the saddest days in their life occur when they lose a loved one, friend or pet. One of the saddest days in my life was February 27, 2003. That day the world lost one of its' greatest citizens...Mr. Fred Rogers.

I was watching a documentary recently on Mr. Rogers lifetime services for the Public Broadcasting Service and I was reminded of one of the saddest days in my life. I can still remember the day like it was yesterday. My routine was the same as any other day. I came home from work, ate diner and signed on for some casual internet surfing....

What happened to Marvel?

Posted on March 19th 2008
Marvel Comics used to be the greatest comic book company in the world. I don't know if this is just nostalgia talking or what, but growing up as a kid I can remember reading great crossovers and mini-series like the Infinity Gauntlet, X-Cutioner's Song, Marvels, the Muir Island Saga and even Spider-Man's Clone Saga. The storytelling was excellent, the pacing was great, the artwork was spectacular and when you were done reading the mini-series or crossover, you felt satisfied and were left frothing at the mouth for more. In the end, you got exactly what you wanted out of it.

Whatchoo Skankin' To?

Posted on January 27th 2008
It's been awhile since I wrote one of these blog thingies (I'm bad at this) so I think I'm going to keep this short and make it interactive. Since I'm a big ska guy, I think that I'm going to talk about what's been keeping me skankin'. For those of you that have no idea what "skankin" is, it's a ska dance. Look it up.

Five bands have been rocking my world over the past month or so.

#1. The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
With their reunion, I've been listening to them repeatedly since about the middle of October. Medium Rare was a great release but I...

Re-aligning the NHL: Part 2

Posted on December 5th 2007
Yesterday you caught a glimpse of part one of my re-envisioning of the National Hockey League and the amalgamation of the Eastern Conference and Western Conferences into the Lemieux and Gretzky Conferences. Since my audience of two readers (I give myself too much credit) is dying to see the makeup of the Divisions within the Gretzky Conference, we’ll get right into the thick up things. Without further adieu, feast your eyes upon the Conference of the Great One.

Central
Toronto Maple Leafs
Columbus Blue Jackets
Detroit Red Wings
Chicago...

Re-aligning the NHL: Part 1

Posted on December 4th 2007
Since I haven't updated my blog for awhile, mainly due to the fact that I have nothing to talk about that anyone would be interested in, I think that I'll talk about one of the things that has been taking up most of my time...hockey.

Recently, the NHL took a much-needed step when they finally fixed the damn schedule. Under the current schedule, a team sees a division rival eight times a year. Next year a team will see each opponent in their division only six times. The NHL execs felt that they needed to create rivalries between teams in the NHL. I guess that current...

Mighty Mighty...BOSSTONES!

Posted on October 12th 2007
Today I was greated with the news that I have been waiting to hear for four long years...the Mighty Mighty Bosstones are back together. It may be temporary, it may be long term. Right now all that I care about is that it is going to be. They're reuniting for the 10th Hometown Throwdown in Boston for five shows in the end of December. If all goes according to plan, I will be attending one or two of those shows.

Since I live in Western Pennsylvania I'm going to have to fly into Boston, stay in a hotel for a few days and fly back before work on New Years Eve. But do you...

Here a blog. There a blog. Everywhere a blog blog.

Posted on September 29th 2007
So Bryan finally managed to get this here blog thingy up and running. I'll admit, at first I was very hesitant to participate but after some convincing (ie. no more free stuff for you) I decided to give it a go. I think that it will be fun to read what the other Readjunkies have to say on a daily/weekly/monthly basis even though we have a forum to do that on. Don't neglect the forum guys. It's a great place to talk about yourself!

What am I going to write about in my blog? Comic books, video games, cartoons...you know, the stuff that most ten years olds like to write...
