Now that I'm home, unemployed, collecting severance and trying to find a new job, the other big important item is, what can I watch on television during the day? The answer is not a whole helluva lot! Getting up a little later than I'm used to, but still early enough that I don't feel entirely guilty for sleeping in. In the morning hours, You can flip around the stations and find hardly anything to watch. Generally, if you are lucky you can find a decent movie on one of the many stations on HBO, or dare I say, watch Regis Philbin bumble and fumble his way through another hour of television with super caffeinated Kelly Ripa.
The only thing that I have been watching is one of my guilty pleasure shows, Las Vegas on TNT. I dunno, I love watching the show. It's so silly and fun but I can't get enough of it. Also, it has plenty of hot women on the show to hold me over for a little while.
I've been home 3+ weeks now and I haven't reached the point of insanity with my time and haven't delved into the Dr Phil/Oprah block that usually takes place in the late afternoon. If I'm desperate I'll throw on some TV show dvd's or a movie. Not to mention all the DVR shows I have to clean out. I suppose this whole time I should be devoting to finding a new job, which I am, but need something on in the background. To feel like I belong to an office still, I'll throw The Office, or forget where I came from and play some Rob & Big on MTV, or watch some Wings or Newsradio.
Job hunting is pretty scary these days with a recession looming. Funny how another recession is upon us when another Bush is leaving the White House. Most companies require internet postings but we all know its nearly impossible to get a phone call from that. It really takes more work than just posting on the internet.
So in the meantime, I sit home, looking for work and watching pretty horrendous daytime television. How come they just can't repeat prime time shows during the day as well?
Anyway, back to Oprah. Oh no. the downward spiral has started! |
