Work. Love it or hate it, there’s certainly plenty of songs about it. It’s one theme that is always topical amongst bands & musicians. Pick a genre of music and I’m sure they have a song about working. Well maybe not classical but you get the idea! In honor of Labor Day weekend, we have compiled 80 songs about working, hating work, slacking off on the job, songs about bosses, trying to find a job, trying to leave a job, etc…Pretty much any song that has to deal with work. If I missed a song, be sure to comment down below!

Out of all the playlists I have done so far, I haven’t done anything specifically on punk rock. Originally I was going to do a playlist of punk songs from the ’70s-’00s but that was too broad. I’ve been in a ’90s punk rock mood lately, considering that’s when I fully got into punk rock. I’ve always been into punk since I was in elementary school but it wasn’t until the early/mid 90s where I got into punk rock full-time so to speak. I tried my best to come up with a kick-ass collection of punk rock songs from the ’90s, but I’m sure I missed some bands. But then again, this is my playlist and if I left a band off the list, it’s probably for a reason!

Summer is almost officially here and what better way to kick off the season with a jamming playlist! Whether you like to listen to reggae or something else during the summer, my goal is to compile a list that I would love to listen to during the summer. The songs could be about summer, sun, heat, swimming or anything related to the summer. Or some songs that I have picked are just songs that I love to listen to around this time of year. Don’t like my picks? Comment down below on what you would include in your playlist!

Everyone has different taste in music. My musical tastes range from punk rock to film scores. The last few playlist articles have been songs from various bands, but I thought I’d switch gears for the month of May. This month I’d like to feature the work of Hans Zimmer, one of my favorite film composers. Perhaps next time I will do a playlist of John Williams score pieces, because he’s the reason why I’m into scores in the first place. So if you’re a fan of film scores, check out the list of my favorite Hans Zimmer score tracks. And no, I’m not putting The Buggles’ “Video Killed the Radio Star” either. (Side note: He was a keyboard player in that band).

Have you ever gone to a movie, thinking it would be kiddy-free and then you end up with a theater filled with annoying, talking kids? I’ve already written about talking in movies before, but lately it seems like more and more kids are showing up into adult movies and they DON’T SHUT THE FUCK UP!

Everyone loves a good ole’ road trip playlist! I like making playlist in general, but I especially love to make mixes and playlists for road trips. I’m going down to DC for a few days this week so I figured this would be a great time to compile a bunch of songs that are about the road, being on the road, or songs that just have the title of the song mentioning the road. I love to listen to oldies and classic rock on the road. Considering that era had the most songs about the road, it’s only fitting to include a lot of those songs on this playlist. Everybody has different taste in music, so it’s not really my place to tell you what to listen to. But I certainly can make suggestions to make your song searching a little bit easier. My Road Trip playlist would look something like this:

The 82nd Academy Awards aired last night and I’m assuming most of you saw it, well unless you live in the NY area and have Cablevision, then you missed the first 20 minutes. I don’t know what side is right or wrong, maybe they are both greedy pricks? I particularly hate Cablevision and The Dolans so I think it’s their fault haha. How convenient they are the one always in the middle of these disputes with the studios. But enough with that, the big news last night was that The Hurt Locker got 6 Oscars. The Hurt Locker and director Kathryn Bigelow beat out Avatar and James Cameron for Best Picture and Best Director. I think that was a little bit surprising. I would have thought that the two movies would have been split down the middle. Honestly, I didn’t like Hurt Locker. It was a bit boring, long, and not Best Picture quality in my mind.

It’s March and we all know what that means! St Patrick’s Day is right around the corner. This month’s ReadJunk Playlist is dedicated to Celtic and folk songs that will get you in the green spirit; and well for others the drinking spirit! This playlist is an easy one for me considering this is one of my favorite genres of music and something I listen to all year round. I’m not one of those phony “Kiss Me I’m Irish” people that breaks out their shirt and stupid green and white Mad Hater hat every year. Perhaps this playlist will give you a bit of a variety than just listening to Dropkick Murphys or Flogging Molly. Here we go!

ReadJunk.com is going to create playlists each month for you! Everyone loves a good mix tape, CD, playlist (whatever) but sometimes you just don’t know what to put on it. Well each month I’ll write up a good playlist to create for yourself or someone else. Each playlist will most likely be a theme, but sometimes I might just wing it and put a bunch of songs I like together. The music will range from ska to punk to folk rock to even more obscure stuff like TV themes. Whatever I feel like putting on the list basically.
