West African Reggae singer Alpha Blondy has over 15 albums, so why not add another one. He will be releasing Mystic Power on July 30 via VP Records. In support of the new album, he will be playing select cities in North America. One of those stops will be at BB Kings in NYC on July 2nd.

Believe it or not, out of all the shows I’ve been to, I never saw a show at CBGBs. I don’t know why that is but just never did. Oh well. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the famous club, they have expanded to a music & film festival happening in NYC on October 9th-13th. Drunken idiot throws bottle at Toots Hibbert’s head
Toots and the Maytals played a festival in Richmond, VA on Saturday night and some drunken asshat threw a glass Vodka bottle at Toots Hibbert. Toots had to go to the hospital and get a bunch of stitches in his head. The drunken fool was arrested for aggravated assault. Toots and the Maytals pressed on the next day and played in Westhampton, NY last night. Thankfully Toots wasn’t hurt further from this incident but ouch, 7 stitches still hurts!
