Drunken idiot throws bottle at Toots Hibbert’s head
Toots and the Maytals played a festival in Richmond, VA on Saturday night and some drunken asshat threw a glass Vodka bottle at Toots Hibbert. Toots had to go to the hospital and get a bunch of stitches in his head. The drunken fool was arrested for aggravated assault. Toots and the Maytals pressed on the next day and played in Westhampton, NY last night. Thankfully Toots wasn’t hurt further from this incident but ouch, 7 stitches still hurts!

Riot Fest & Carnival has announced its initial line-up for 2013! Riot Fest will be happening this year on September 13-15 at Humboldt Park in Chicago. Tickets are already on sale (since last night) and you can see the 3 dates starting at $69.98. The lineup is quite impressive despite some bands I could care less about. Fall Out Boy seems to be headlining but bands I actually like playing include: Motorhead, Rancid, Public Enemy, Flag, Bad Religion, DeVotchka, Screeching Weasel, Pennywise, The Lillingtons, Against Me!, GWAR, X, Bad Brains, Quicksand, The Selecter, Toots and the Maytals, Chuck Ragan, Mephiskapheles, Masked Intruder, Deal’s Gone Bad and more to be announced later! Phil Chevron of The Pogues Has Inoperable Cancer
Sad news was posted on Pogues.com today as guitarist Phil Chevron has made public that his cancer has returned. Philip had cancer few years ago but sadly, it has returned and doesn’t seem to be operable. It’s really hard fighting back the tears right now honestly. I’m hoping Philip will do what Wilko Johnson is doing and just keep on living each day to the fullest until the curfew. This news is such a fucking bummer.
