Rock N Roll Icon, Mot+rhead s Lemmy, Coming To Guitar Hero Metallica
Once honored by Metallica with seven Mot+rhead covers performed as The Lemmys, GRAMMY Award-winning legend and lead vocalist and bassist of Mot+rhead, Lemmy, will take his rightful place on stage alongside Lars, James, Kirk and Robert in Activision Publishing Inc. s Guitar Hero Metallica this spring.

The Hasbro-Universal collaboration “Monopoly” is jumping a large number of spaces up the board.
The feature project has brought on Pamela Pettler to write the screenplay; She penned Tim Burton’s “Corpse Bride,” Gil Kenan’s “Monster House” and the upcoming animated adventure “9,” produced by Burton and Timur Bekmambetov.
And Ridley Scott, who has been attached as a producer on “Monopoly” and has been mentioned as a possible director, is now officially attached to helm the project, with an eye toward giving it a futuristic sheen along the lines of his iconic “Blade Runner.”
(Bold mine – has Scott lost his marbles? Wait… marbles! That would make the perfect movie!)

Guitar Hero: World Tour has finally released its full track list. While the list of 86 tracks isn t as jaw-dropping as that of its counterpart Rock Band 2, there are a bunch of highlights, including a pair of tracks by Jimi Hendrix and Ozzy Osbourne, plus cuts from Metallica, Nirvana, Van Halen, the Doors and Lynyrd Skynyrd. All the songs are original master recordings. There s karaoke favorites like the Eagles Hotel California and, for the true axmen, virtuoso songs like Joe Satriani s Satch Boogie. Additionally, the game will boast exclusive Guitar Duel recordings by Ted Nugent and Zakk Wylde. There s also a trio of new play options: Band Career, the Music Studio feature and the 8-player Battle of the Bands that allow bands to compete online. The always entertaining hockey player Sean Avery is planning on making a movie of his brief stint as a Vogue summer intern. Sean’s always the center of attention and I can definitely see him in the movies. It worked for Marty Mcsorley right? I wonder if Sean’s planning a hockey cowboy movie next since he’s on the Dallas Stars now?

TORONTO — Do real men wear Prada?
New Line Cinema will presumably answer that question in a film about professional hockey player Sean Avery’s experiences as a summer intern at the fashion bible Vogue.
Avery, who considers himself something of a fashion jock, in May began a summer internship at Vogue, where, among other duties, he served as guest editor of MensVogue.com.
New Line, which is developing and will produce a big-screen account of his experiences in the fashion world and the relationships he made there, has hired Stan Chervin to write the screenplay. Contrafilms’ Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson, who were behind New Line’s sleeper hit “Journey to the Center of the Earth,” will produce.
Avery was a member of the NHL’s New York Rangers at the time of the internship; he’s since signed with the Dallas Stars. Avery told The Hollywood Reporter he’s always been a fashionista. “I was always trying to be the best-dressed kid in school,” he said.

Xbox 360 to be Lowest-Priced Next-Gen Video Game Console
One of the biggest selling points of Nintendo’s Wii video game console since its launch nearly two years ago has been that it was the lowest-priced of the trio of next-generation machines, which also includes Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Sony’s PlayStation 3.
To date, the Wii costs $249, while the lowest-priced Xbox, the so-called “Arcade,” retails currently for $279. An 80GB PS3 sells for $400.
But Microsoft said Wednesday that it will drop the price of the Arcade on Friday to $199, breaking through what some have said is the all-important psychological price level of $200. At that price, industry observers say, the market opens up to mass levels of consumers.
Microsoft will also drop the price of its 60GB Xbox to $299 and its “Xbox Elite,” which has a 120GB hard drive, to $399.
“The fact that the Xbox 360 is now cheaper than the Wii is definitely a big shift in the market,” said Aaron Greenberg, director of product management for Xbox 360.

Stan Winston, an Oscar-winning visual effects artist, has died at age 62.
Winston died at home Sunday evening after a seven-year struggle with multiple myeloma, according to a rep from Stan Winston Studio.
“Stan died peacefully at home surrounded by family,” a spokeswoman said.

Gibson sues MTV, Harmonix, EA over Guitar Hero
Tennessee guitar manufacturer says guitar controllers infringe on a 1999 technology patent that protects the right to “simulate a musical performance.”
The suit filed on Friday seeks damages from MTV Games, Harmonix, and Electronic Arts for their involvement (whatever that may be) with earlier Guitar Hero games, presumably in addition to Rock Band.
Activision, which now owns both the Guitar Hero brand and Red Octane (which developed the controllers), filed a preemptive lawsuit earlier this month to protect itself against an impending, now current Gibson lawsuit. Incidentally, Activision licensed the rights to model Guitar Hero III controllers on Gibson model guitars.
Combined Guitar Hero sales total more than $1 billion in receipts since the series debuted on PlayStation 2 in 2005. Defendants were not immediately available for comment when contacted by Reuters.
