James Cameron has his eyes on the director’s chair and it’s not for Avatar 2! The Batman franchise will be getting a new director and Variety has confirmed it’s James Cameron! Christopher Nolan clearly doesn’t want to continue the Batman trilogy (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight) of movies since he’s already tackled the material twice. I would be afraid to tackle something after The Dark Knight too! But Cameron is willing to give it a shot. It stinks Nolan isn’t going to direct this one but I think James Cameron is a perfect choice for this! Plus we get to see Batman kicking some ass in 3D!

The search for Captain America has been going on for awhile now, and apparently the search is finally over. Chris Evans of Not Another Teen Movie, Fantastic Four, Sunshine will be the one that plays Steve Rogers (a.k.a Captain America). Personally, I’d have to see how the final product comes out but I don’t know what to think of this decision. Hasn’t Chris done enough comic book movies? The First Avenger: Captain America comes out July 22nd, 2011 and is being directed by Joe Johnston.

20th Century Fox announced this morning that Avatar is coming out on DVD and Blu-Ray April 22nd. I think it’s safe to say that this will sell a few copies here and there. I can’t wait to watch this again, too bad 3D TVs aren’t really consumer-ready yet to watch this on but I’m sure there will be plenty of different versions of this movie out on video for years to come. I think this will be awesome to watch regardless of 3D or not. Can’t wait!

Steven Spielberg’s War of the Worlds will be coming to Blu-Ray on June 1st. The movie starred Tom Cruise, an annoying Dakota Fanning and a looney Tim Robbins. I’m not really crazy about the movie but I’m sure it will look nice on Blu-Ray. On the Blu-Ray, there will be over 2 hours of bonus materials. Sounds like a good deal if you like this flick.

Troubled teen idol and actor Corey Haim was found dead this morning, TMZ reports. Signs are pointing to an overdose, maybe accidental? It’s well documented that Corey has had problems with drugs in the past, including his reality show with Corey Feldman called The Two Coreys. Details are still coming in but the star of Lost Boys, License to Drive, Lucas, Dream a Little Dream and some other movies as passed away at the age of 38. First Michael Jackson, and now Corey Haim…Corey Feldman is going to be a wreck! I was really hoping for a License to Drive 2 too!

The filmmakers Paul Rachman and Steven Blush, who were behind the excellent documentary American Hardcore, are creating another film that looks equally as interesting. It’s called Lost Rockers and it reveals great musicians overlooked by pop culture. It offers insight into what it takes to “make it,” and why so many of equal talent to famous stars fall through the cracks. The film tells the life stories of these forgotten artists — of different eras, genres, creeds and orientations — from their doomed paths to fame to their ultimate redemption. You’ll experience amazing music you can’t believe you never heard.

Eddie Izzard’s “Believe” comes out in stores March 2nd. The DVD of British documentary explores Eddie Izzard’s one-of-a-kind wit through intimate backstage access to Izzard, friends and family, plus acclaimed performance clips. Eddie is a talented comedian and actor, and even though I don’t like all of his performances all the time, I still think I’d enjoy this documentary. Press release is down below:

Peter Jackson’s The Lovely Bones will be out on DVD and Blu-Ray April 20th from Paramount Home Entertainment! I heard the book is good but different than the movie. I’m not sure how either are or if I’ll even end up liking this or not. But since it’s Peter Jackson, I’ll at least give the movie a chance and see it when it comes on DVD. Anyone else see this?

On March 9th, Paramount Home Entertainment will release Up In The Air on Blu-ray and DVD! The Oscar nominated movie is co-written and directed by Oscar nominee Jason Reitman and stars George Clooney. I haven’t seen the film yet but I’ll probably catch it when it arrives on DVD. It looks like a good film, and I always like Clooney’s roles. Based on other Award shows, I don’t think it will win Best Picture though.

One of the greatest war movies of all time, Saving Private Ryan, is finally coming to Blu-Ray on May 4th, 2010. It’s been a few years since I saw the movie just because it’s a tough one to watch. Even though it’s not entirely factual and only based on numerous people, it’s still a rough one to sit through. I still prefer Band of Brothers to this, but I’d imagine this will look amazing on Blu-Ray. “Earn This!” Read the press release after the jump:

The nominations for 82nd Academy Awards were announced this morning! Not really any surprises or shockers here, more of the same from the other award shows we’ve seen. About the only change is seeing 10 movies being nominated instead of 5 for Best Picture. The result of that is seeing movies like District 9, Up and Blind Side being nominated. Avatar and Hurt Locker both scored 9 nominations and that looks like the movies to beat this year. Personally, hoping Avatar wins a lot this year. I’m just glad stupid Glee won’t be ruining this awards show! Read the full list below:
