I hate this CD, Pennywise or not. It’s like the lyrics were written by an impressionable pre-teen reading Punk Planet for the first time: Religious and political leaders are hypocrites (duh), our civil rights are sometimes infringed upon (duh), media feeds lies (yawn), plus the mandatory anti-authority tune (called, what else, “F**k Authority” [asterisks theirs]), and —ugh– a song about the WTO... called “WTO.”
Even the title of this album and the liner notes’ images of police in riot gear beating protestors screams the amateurish, eye-rolling political punk you’d expect from a rookie band. But it’s still Pennywise, so the music is decent and there are a handful of good, catchy songs (“Time Marches On,” “Twist of Fate”). But c’mon, F**k Authority?? Lame-o-roony.
