The king detectors of bullshit are back with another hilarious, thought provoking season of Penn & Teller Bullshit. I don't have Showtime anymore so I was really looking forward to watching the latest season of the magicians turned TV hosts. I think Season 5 is a lot better than the 4th season, but all the seasons have been great so far.
Penn & Teller Bullshit is about various topics that might be taboo or too controversial to be talked about. Each episode, the magician comedians Penn and Teller tackle the topics in such a way that is both informative and comical. They go right after the topics, and the people that support and are against the causes they are having the show on. They are usually an equal offender in attacking both sides but you can clearly figure out what side of the argument they are on. This season, they tackle such subjects as: Obesity, Wal-Mart, Breast Hysteria, De-Toxing, Exorcism, Immigration, Handicap Parking, Mt Rushmore, Hybrid cars and energy, and Anger Management.
I may not agree with every single thing that Penn and Teller..err Penn says but man do these guys know how to put on a show. They can make a whole show on why airplane food is so shitty and make it entertaining (of course they don't have that show but you know what I'm saying). Although, last season's was pretty good but wasn't on par with this season and the ones before that. I thought it was interesting that they sided with Wal-Mart, so I definitely disagree with some of their views on that chain. I can see why they support it but there is a lot of negatives as well. The episode on obesity is the first episode in the season and I liked that one a lot. They show a guy getting a colonic and it made me want to throw up, especially since I was eating my dinner at the time. The breast hysteria episode was a good one too because it's something a lot of people complain about. Breast feeding in public can freak some people out for some reason, and its also something that is legal to do. But when woman flash their fun bags in public, it's not. That my friend is bullshit! But there's more to that episode than just that argument. The Handicap parking and Mt Rushmore episodes were strong episodes that will prob. anger some people. I'm glad they went after Mt Rushmore because awhile it's a nice monument, they had no right to dig a bunch of presidents face into sacred land. It's a big example on how this government continues to shit on Native Americans. Each episode this season is great and very entertaining. If you are going to buy this season on DVD, make sure you own the previous seasons as well! |
