"Rubbin" is the battlecry of the recent racing title from the fine fellows (and fellettes) at Electronic Arts. Burnout 3: Takedown takes the best elements of Gran Turismo and Destruction Derby and combines them in a beautifully graphical and entertaining package.

You start the game with the usual 3 cars to choose from, and a few various tracks. As you progress through the levels, you unlock more cars and more tracks, on par with most racing games. What's different with this game is HOW you ge

t those extra pieces.

The game modes include Face Off, where you can win your opponent's car if you beat them in a street race. Road Rage is a full on race, with multiple opponents, through crowded city streets, and every vehicle you'd expect to see on one. In Crash the purpose is to launch your car into unsuspecting intersections and crowded freeway crossings, in the hopes of racking up as much dollar damage as possible. Throughout these different modes, you gain Boost (Turbo) by rubbing, slamming, tailgaiting and "taking down" your opponents. I have never seen more spectacular crashes in a game before, and the physics and amount of detail they put into it really shine here. After about 7 total hours playing, I am only at about 11% complete, so the replay value hasn't even come into play yet. Playing head to head with a friend is very similar to other racing games, Split screen, Player 1 on top, Player 2 on bottom. The game also supports XBOX Live! which, from what I hear (don't have Live! yet myself) is a whole other game.
