Well, I went to go see the movie Grass last night but for some reason I forgot what it was about. Just kidding, actually it was a pretty decent movie. It was mostly a documentary on the "War against Marijuana" in the U.S. The movie was directed by Ron Mann and narrated by Woody Harrelson. Since Harrelson is involved, you know this movie is going to be some type of pro-decriminalization propaganda. The film is basically a collection of archived footage found on newsreels, in movies and on TV shows. Marijuana is basically depicted as a scapegoat and political tool. Laws were originally created with the intent to keep migrant workers from Mexico in check in the early 1930s. Later, it was tied in with Red China so-called attempt to "Dope up America". The film also partially documents the carrer of Harry J. Anslinger, America's leading force in the war on drugs. Overall its fairly informative and mildly entertaining. The best parts of the film have to be the anti-marijuana propaganda films from the early 20th century. They described various effects that marijuana has on people. These "effects" could be anything ranging from lowering sexual inhibitions to women killing their husbands. Also, they say that smoking Marijuana leads to Heroin addiction. The film would be much better if it concentrated more on informing people and less time trying to convinvce them that pot should be decriminalized. It definitely is a film that should be seen by anyone that has ever smoked pot. |

Favorite Scenes:The best scenes in the movie were the anti-marijuana propaganda films, which is kinda of ironic cause the film is definitely a pro-marijuana movie.
