Beck: Iraq Withdrawal Would Be ‘America's Most Shameful Act Of Immorality Since Slavery'

CNN Headline News anchor Glenn Beck said tonight that if America withdraws from Iraq, it "would be America's most shameful act of immorality since slavery," adding that congressional war opponents are "just plain stupid" and "can't see the future."

Beck claimed that if U.S. forces pull out, a "genocide" will take place that makes Darfur "look like a picnic." "The blood of the Iraqi children will be on all of our hands," Beck said.

According to Beck, the solution for Iraq is more U.S. troops. A lack of troops isn't the problem. Since President Bush sent his "surge" of troops to Baghdad, violence has gone up. The deadliest single attack since the war began — a suicide truck bombing in Tal Afar that killed 152 people — occurred this month, as did the deadliest attack yet inside the Green Zone.

The U.S. presence in Iraq is hurting, rather than helping, the situation. Seven out of 10 Iraqis want the United States to leave, and a poll last year found that the majority of Iraqis believe violence would decrease if U.S. troops withdrew.

There is no comparison between enslaving human beings and proposing a plan to remove U.S. troops from the middle of a civil war.
