Latest G.I. Joe News from 2008 Toy Fair - Cobra Commander Confirmed

News from The International Toy Fair 2008 in New York confirms that Joseph Gordon-Levitt ("3rd Rock from the Sun") will be taking on the role of Cobra Commander in the upcoming GI Joe movie from Paramount Pictures. This news was once announced last month Click Here, but quickly taken down from the source, leaving us wondering if it was leaked early or incorrect. Well, now we know and knowing is half the....

In other tidbits from the 2008 Toy Fair, Ray Park (of Star Wars - Darth Maul fame) who is signed on to play Snake Eyes, wants to get a G.I.Joe Ninja Clan Tattoo. The movie story will involve two different love stories which may include either or both of the lady leads Baroness (Sienna Miller) and Scarlett (Rachel Nichols) (not necessarily with each other).

You can expect to see many geographic locales in the G.I.Joe movie as the story takes you all over the world including the arctic, the bottom of the ocean, northern sierra, Moscow, Washington D.C. and more. Finally, we can expect to see next generation military equipment in the film, for example a chief scene in Paris where the characters will be using next generation military equipment that will allow them to run faster and jump higher than normal people.

The cast for G.I.Joe includes Ray Parks (Snake-Eyes), Sienna Miller (Baroness) and Rachel Nichols (Scarlett), Said Taghmaoui (Breaker), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Heavy Duty), Marlon Waynes (Ripcord), Channing Tatum (Duke) and Dennis Quiad (Hawk), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Cobra Commander), Arnold Vosloo (Zartan) and Karolína Isela Kurková (Cover Girl).

Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Hasbro's Brian Goldner will produce a G.I. Joe live-action movie scheduled for release in August 7, 2009. Joining the production team along with newly-named director, Stephen Sommers, and business-partner Bob Ducsay will be scribe Stuart Beattie.
