Sorry Folks, No Image Is Here.

Comedian and actor Erik Griffin has signed with SideOneDummy Records. This marks the first comedy album for Side One Dummy! His debut comedy album, Technical Foul: Volume One will be released on March 12, 2013.

Known for his hilarious observations about life, love and self-evaluation, Griffin is excited about forging the comedy path on SideOneDummy. “I’m excited to be the official dummy on the label. Indie rock and comedy are definitely second cousins,” says Griffin. Joe Sib, co-founder of SideOneDummy Records, shares the comedian’s enthusiasm, saying, “I am so excited (I mean stoked!) that SideOneDummy will be releasing our first full-length comedy record with Erik. With Erik’s material and delivery, I have found myself gasping for air while trying to see through a sea of tears from laughing so hard.”

Griffin will kick off his new partnership with SideOneDummy by offering Technical Foul: Volume One for pre-order exclusively via a Pledge Music Campaign. There, fans have the ability to preview Technical Foul: Volume One, pre-order special packages that range from autographed CDs, t-shirts, or get tickets to his record release parties. The campaign will also offer more elaborate packages including a dinner with Erik, having him make a prank phone call to someone, or put on a private stand-up performance.

The decision for Sib and the rest of SideOneDummy to release a comedy album was an easy one. “The first time I saw the cover for Class Clown by George Carlin, I thought it was a rock record,” states Sib, “Carlin’s long hair, jean jacket and Levis made him look like he was in a band. Then I put the record on and had my virgin ears blown off and my love for stand-up began.” He added, “In my opinion, comedians and musicians are cut from the same cloth. A number of comics at one point or another wanted to be musicians; they wanted to rock. And most musicians fancy themselves a bit of a comic when they are not rocking. In the times we are currently living in, I think everyone could use a good laugh.”

Griffin has become a mainstay on television thanks to his recurring role on Comedy Central’s Workaholics as the character Montez Walker. His stand-up comedy has appeared in specials like The Payaso Comedy Slam, Comedy Central’s Live At Gotham, Showtime’s Comics Without Borders, and the nationally syndicated Comics Unleashed. He has also appeared in the History Channel’s Surviving the Holidays with Lewis Black and the Tribeca Film Festival Documentary Just Like Us. Griffin will kick off the new year with shows across America and Canada.
