Joe Keithley, Canada’s godfather of punk, is the founder and lead guitarist of the seminal Vancouver punk band D.O.A. TALK—ACTION = 0: An Illustrated History of D.O.A. is a new visual book about the band and Joey “Shithead” Keithley. Fans of punk rock and D.O.A. will definitely want to pick this one up!
Established in 1978, D.O.A. and their raw, melodic sound quickly drew comparisons to the Clash and the Ramones. The band has always been known for its acute political sensibility and uncompromising, outspoken anarchist viewpoints. D.O.A.’s slogan, Talk—Action = 0, refers to the importance of artists and others who need to walk the walk when it comes to their politics. And after more than thirty years, D.O.A. remains as active as ever.
TALK—ACTION = 0 is a full-color, large-format book by lead singer/guitarist Keithley, comprised of vintage photographs, posters, handwritten lyrics, and other various ephemera that offer a visceral glimpse into the hardcore life of one of the hardest-working punk bands in the business.
