For the devoted VibeTribe the wait is over. In a much-anticipated announcement, Gathering of the Vibes welcomes a ‘Vibes-like-mix’ of talented and soulful artists to its 20th Year Anniversary Bash. “The VibeTribe has spoken, and we have listened,” notes Ken Hays, Festival Owner. “Familiar favorites and future favorites present a potent line-up to celebrate our twentieth year sharing music, life, and each other.”

ON-STAGE @ VIBES20: Grammy-winner Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals reunite and bring their eclectic mix of blues, folk, soul, reggae and rock; twenty meets twenty, as fan favorite Wilco adds Vibes20 to its 20th Anniversary Tour; legendary Hall of Famer Gregg Allman returns to Vibes, this time with his own band; internationally acclaimed rockers, Weezer (featuring Connecticut’s own lead singer Rivers Cuomo), are first-timers to Vibes; household name in the jamband world, The String Cheese Incident, makes its only northeast appearance of the summer; and, there’s the introduction of Billy & the Kids – new project of Bill Kreutzmann, Grateful Dead drummer.

Additionally, a Vibes tribute to the Golden Anniversary of the Grateful Dead is expected. Fittingly, what is now known as Gathering of the Vibes began 20 years ago when steadfast Deadheads gathered to commemorate beloved bandleader – Jerry Garcia. This modest first assembly has evolved into an annual four-day music, cultural arts, and camping festival with 50+ bands on multiple stages, and a daily average of 25,000 fans, partying along the picturesque Connecticut coast of Long Island Sound.

“There’s an unmatched heart and soul to the Vibes community – coming together each summer, catching up with friends on stage and off,” Hays exudes. Our 20th year together will be a truly inspirational and meaningful experience!” he promises.

Dark Star Orchestra will set the tone opening night, (07/30), and featured performers throughout the weekend include: husband and wife team Tedeschi Trucks Band with their 11-piece blues-rock ensemble known for shaking things up; Zappa Plays Zappa, son Dweezil Zappa’s tribute to father Frank, and to an era; Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings capture, the essence of funk and soul; The Word (featuring Robert Randolph, John Medeski, brothers Luther & Cody Dickinson and Chris Chew), The Gaslight Anthem, and many more will fill the air of historic Seaside Park with good vibrations for Gathering of the Vibes 20th.
