Keeping up on the international punk scene is a hard thing to do. The Biffers hail from Livorno, Italy and make me wish that it were easier to discover bands from abroad.

“Frankie Road” is another vinyl record/digital EP release from Greenway Records and is yet another home run listen. I like that the Biffers mix melodic punk with indie rock but not in the oi kind of way, but in more of an early Weezer kind of way. All four songs on the EP are sung in English and the vocal accents add a unique sound to the album. I’m reminded of Frenzal Rhomb or Wizo.

While Biffers have a slower rock-influenced punk sound, the sounds are catchy and have a steady pace to them. A couple of the songs are long and somewhat repetitive, but overall “Frankie Road” was a good punk and roll listen and a solid EP from our punk rock friends in Italy.

Bottom Line: Four songs that are heavily influenced by classic punk and rock and roll and are easy on the ears.
Notable Tracks: Werewolf, The Law Won
