It’s been awhile since we got a Michael Moore film and Where To Invade Next is his latest. While others will probably disagree with me, I think Where To Invade Next is one Moore’s strongest & funniest movies to date.

Michael Moore has had it with the United States being behind in everything. Things like month long paid vacations, universal health care, the prison systems, and strong women leaders in politics and corporations. Moore sets out to recapture the American Dream and restore it. He visits each of these countries and jokingly tells people he’s stealing their ideas to bring back to the US. The documentary has it’s fair share of jokes, but it should also infuriate you as well that things can be better than they have been.

I wanted to see Where To Invade Next in theaters but just never got around to it. I felt this was one movie that should have done a Video on Demand/Streaming at the same time as it’s theatrical run. It’s one that people should see if you enjoy Michael Moore’s movies. Even if you don’t like Moore or his films, it’s something that will make you open your eyes a lot. It really makes you think, and say “you know what, maybe the United States as a country can do a lot better.” Essentially this is a movie Bernie supporters will love because this is practically Bernie’s platform and has been for years. Unlike some phony candidates, who are also running in the race and just pandering for votes.

I’m sure doubters will bitch and moan about how Moore is always so biased and only tells half-truths on things. Regardless if that’s the case or not, you have to admit the US could do better in a lot of areas that Michael Moore covers in this movie. It’s certainly possible to do, it’s up to the people to embrace those changes and make it happen though. Considering a lot of people want Donald Trump in office, I doubt it’s possible in the near future. In terms of the filming and editing, the look of the film is good. It seems like Moore shot with a small crew using DSLR or similar style of cameras. What I love about Moore’s movies besides the content that he’s presenting, is the narration. That’s usually where the humor comes into play. I was laughing out loud quite a lot in the beginning of the movie. If I have any complaints, is that the ending was weaker than the other parts. It just seemed to fizzle out at the end. I did like that he used The Interrupters’ “Take Back The Power” though.

In terms of bonus features, there were nothing. Not even a digital HD copy, which was a little disappointing. You’d think that would be the standard in all Blu-Ray copies nowadays.

I think all Americans need to see Where To Invade Next. They need to think real hard on what you think where the United States should be headed next. Do you want to continue have endless war, crime, overpriced shit, decreasing middle class, work a lot more and take less vacations, terrible roads and bridges….or perhaps we can do better like France, Italy, Germany, Norway and other countries? That’s what I get from watching Where To Invade Next. Not everybody will like this movie but I’m a fan of Moore’s so. At least go into the movie with an open mind and try to take something away from it.
