When it was announced that Cursive and Alkaline Trio were touring together, I think every little emo-hearted punk let out a girlish squeal. After all, it was Alkaline Trio and Cursive. Unfortunately, Saturday’s sold-out performance at Chicago’s the Metro did not exactly live up to expectations.

Alkaline Trio will perform their new single, “This Addiction,” live on Late Show With David Letterman on Wednesday, March 10th, in support of their new album, This Addiction, which is due out on February 23rd. The Trio recently released a video for the single which you can see here.

Alkaline Trio have debuted their new video for the first single and title track from their forthcoming album This Addiction, due out February 23, yesterday on MySpace.com. Set in the mountainous fields of Ventura County, California, the visually stunning video for the metaphorical rock anthem “This Addiction” paints a rare glimpse of Alkaline Trio as they perform on an open battlefield where two sides of the heart collide in a vibrant burst of color.

As anticipation builds for their Epitaph Records/Heart & Skull debut, seminal punk rockers Alkaline Trio have announced plans for a US headlining tour with indie rock band Cursive, in support of their forthcoming studio album, This Addiction, which is due out February 23.

Alkaline Trio has signed with Epitaph Records. The band will be self releasing the album on their own label Heart & Skull, and joint releasing it with Epitaph Records. This seems to be a pattern with a lot of bands lately. Go from a small indie record label, get signed to a major label, and then go back to an indie label or self release the album. What punk bands should learn is not to sign to a major label, because you’ll just end up back on an indie label anyway…

Ben Weasel announced that Screeching Weasel will playing this year’s Riot Fest in Chicago, Illinois. The Riot Fest is happening this year between October 7th-11th. Screeching Weasel will be at the Congress Theater on October 11th. Other bands announced so far are Cock Sparrer, NOFX, Alkaline Trio, Dead Milkman, and Murder City Devils. More bands will be announced June 18th. Tickets aren’t available yet.
