Screeching Weasel and Riverdales playing Philly in April
Ben Weasel will be bringing Screeching Weasel and The Riverdales over to the East Coast in 2010. Only thing, I don’t think he’s going that far over and just playing in Philadelphia, PA. Kind of sucks they are only going to there but if you really want to see the band, be sure to get your tickets for these shows! The shows in Philly are happening April 23rd and 24th. Tickets for the Chicago shows in January are still available! Tickets are on sale for the Philly shows now, see below for details:

Asian Man Records’ Ben Weasel blowout sale!
Mike Park announced that Asian Man Records won’t be carrying Ben Weasel merch after December 12th. Ben Weasel is going to have Recess Records handle all the merchandise for Screeching Weasel, Riverdales, Ben Weasel solo albums from now on. So Asian Man Records is going to have a Big Blowout Sale for fans to purchase a bunch of stuff for under 30 bucks! Can’t beat that, read below for all the details:

Riot Fest 2009
The fifth annual Riot Fest took over five days and several venues and clubs in Chicago last week. From old school punks to newer acts playing, it was hard to choose which acts to see and which venue to see them at. Skipping Wednesday and Thursday night, I started off my first Riot Fest experience on Friday and saw the rest of the weekend through.

Asian Man Records offering Riverdales pre-sale special!
The new Riverdales album “Invasion USA” will be out on July 14th on Asian Man Records. Asian Man Records is offering up a special pre-sale for their new album, which includes a lot of awesome goodies for a low price. I can’t wait to hear this new album, but wish Ben Weasel would spend a few days away from Illinois and come play in New York.

Screeching Weasel playing Riot Fest 09
Ben Weasel announced that Screeching Weasel will playing this year’s Riot Fest in Chicago, Illinois. The Riot Fest is happening this year between October 7th-11th. Screeching Weasel will be at the Congress Theater on October 11th. Other bands announced so far are Cock Sparrer, NOFX, Alkaline Trio, Dead Milkman, and Murder City Devils. More bands will be announced June 18th. Tickets aren’t available yet.

The Riverdales complete recording of new album
The Riverdales have been busy recording a new album, that will be released on Asian Man Records on July 14th. They have just finished recording the session, now it’s onto the mixing and mastering part.

Ben Weasel
Your new album “These Ones Are Bitter” was just released on your own label, Mendota Recordings. What made you decide that this was going to a digital-only release?
I wanted to release the album myself and it was really the only way I could afford to do it and still promote it properly. CD sales are in the toilet across the board from what I’ve been told by the people I know who are running independent labels. Vinyl sales are up a bit but the main thing is that digital sales are climbing. I decided to go with this idea last October. At that point the label people I asked were telling me 30-35% of their sales were digital. 9 months later I’m hearing 40-50%.
