
In 2009, The Bouncing Souls celebrated their 20th anniversary as a band by releasing a new song on the first of each month throughout the year, via digital download. They also pressed these songs onto a series of 7″ vinyl records which they sold everywhere they went on a year-long world tour. Here, finally, those twelve songs have been gathered into a complete collection, entitled “Ghosts on The Boardwalk,” available January 12th on Chunksaah Records.

December 1st brought the final installment in the Bouncing Souls’ “song of the month” series. “Never Say Die / When You’re Young,” three chords and a message to end the year with. It’s a battle cry for the lifers to keep carrying that torch and burning it bright, but it’s also directed at the youngest ear’s of tomorrow’s generation. Just like the Pogues playing in UK, the Bosstones playing in Boston every year for the Holidays, now it’s becoming an annual thing with the Bouncing Souls as well! Right after Christmas on December 26th, the NJ punk band will be spending their final days of their 20th anniversary in craphole Asbury Park,NJ. 2009 has been an extremely busy year so far for New Jersey punk legends, The Bouncing Souls, as they continue to celebrate their 20 year anniversary!
Starting in January, The Bouncing Souls, and their label, Chunksaah Records, announced they’d release a brand new song to their fans on the first of every month (seven new tracks to date as of this week), premiered an amazing new video for March’s new song, “Airpoirt Security,” performed at this year’s SXSW Music Marathon, toured the States with good friends Dillinger 4, The Loved Ones, Black President, The AKAs and more, showed homage to Record Store Day with an in-store acoustic performance at Generation Records in New York City, flew to play Alaska for the first time where Mount Redoubt’s first eruption in 20 years (coincidence?) left the band temporarily stranded, toured South America for the first time ever, and are currently finishing up a European tour.

Rich Cunningham formed Happy Days Records in 1995, releasing debut records by Hot Water Music and Ink & Dagger, as well as titles by Endeavor, Times Up, and Human Remains. In 2000 he formed New Labor, an alternative model of worker organization that combines new and existing strategies to improve working conditions and provide a voice for low-wage, young, immigrant workers in central New Jersey. In 2005 Rich was diagnosed with cancer and recently his battle has taken a turn for the worse.
