Hank Williams – Revealed: Unreleased Recordings out November 3rd‏

A new set of previously unreleased recordings that Hank Williams made for the Mother’s Best radio show in 1951 will be issued as a 3-CD box set called Revealed: Unreleased Recordings on November 3rd via Time Life. In addition to 50 tracks not heard since they originally aired, the collection includes extremely rare in-studio conversations with Williams, and each disc contains a complete show exactly as it was heard over fifty years ago. Of particular importance is “Cold, Cold, Heart” captured on one of the program’s earliest surviving shows, making it the first public performance ever of the song.

The Defibulators announce summer tour dates

The Defibulators continue to confirm more New York City live dates in support of their debut album, Corn Money, which is released through City Salvage Records. The band just returned from touring throughout the country, including SXSW. During this tour, The Defibulators developed a fanbase outside of New York City with strong turnouts in Philadelphia, Chicago, Austin, Minneapolis, Nashville, Kansas City, Dallas/Fort Worth and Chapel Hill, to name a few. New live dates have been confirmed.

RIP: Jay Bennett (ex-Wilco member)

Former Wilco member Jay Bennett has passed away at the age of 45. Bennett was a member of the band from 1994 through 2001 and Bennett had many conflicts with frontman Jeff Tweedy. The multi-instrumentalist and producer died in his sleep. The cause of death is unknown right now.

First off, it should be noted that Steve Earle is THE man. Back when he was, shall we say……wet behind the ears at the tender age of seventeen he was taken in under the drunken wing of a Texan singer/songwriter by the name of Townes Van Zandt, after the latter heard Steve cover one of his songs after being heckled by Townes. Steve once said that Townes was “A real good teacher and a real bad role model.” Steve also said “Townes Van Zandt is the best songwriter in the whole world, and I’ll stand on Bob Dylan’s coffee table in my cowboy boots and say that” and its with that in mind that brings us Steve Earle’s new album, a tribute to his friend and mentor the late, great Townes Van Zandt – “Townes.”
