Hollywood has lost another great action film director & producer. Tony Scott (Brother to Ridley Scott) has died from an apparent suicide and he was 68 years old. Scott is best known for directing movies like Top Gun, Beverly Hills Cop 2, True Romance, Days of Thunder, Last Boy Scout, Enemy of The State, Crimson Tide, Spy Game, and the recent Unstoppable which came out in 2010. He has also produced a ton like this summer’s Prometheus. Out of those movies, I would have to say Enemy of the State, Crimson Tide and Beverly Hills Cop 2 were my favorite. It was known he was working on another Top Gun movie, as well as producing the sequel to Prometheus. He will be missed!

Actor Dennis Hopper has passed away at the age of 74. He has been in the hospital for awhile now, and has died from complications of prostate cancer. His life was complicated & chaotic even at the end; divorcing his wife back in January from his “deathbed.” Dennis Hopper will always be known for such movies as Easy Rider, Apocalypse Now, True Romance, Blue Velvet, Hoosiers, Speed, and yes, even Super Mario Bros. Ok that last one was a joke. He also did some TV work as well, playing the main baddie in the first season of 24. Dennis Hopper and the interesting characters he portrayed will be missed.

James Cameron has his eyes on the director’s chair and it’s not for Avatar 2! The Batman franchise will be getting a new director and Variety has confirmed it’s James Cameron! Christopher Nolan clearly doesn’t want to continue the Batman trilogy (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight) of movies since he’s already tackled the material twice. I would be afraid to tackle something after The Dark Knight too! But Cameron is willing to give it a shot. It stinks Nolan isn’t going to direct this one but I think James Cameron is a perfect choice for this! Plus we get to see Batman kicking some ass in 3D!

Mark Ritts has passed away at the age of 63. He was a writer, producer, director, actor and puppeteer; but he was most known for being the dopey tattoo-armed Lester The Rat on the kid’s science TV show Beakman’s World. I used to watch this show all throughout high school and Mark Ritts’ character was always funny to watch. Nothing like seeing this big guy with tattoos in a rat costume, like he had no choice but to be there. His zany antics will be missed!

Rob Marshall, director of the Oscar winning film Chicago is in talks to direct the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie starring Johnny Depp. It hasn’t been confirmed yet but I welcome a new change to the franchise. I still loved the trilogy, but perhaps it’s time to offer something new and getting a new director might help things. Or maybe not, who knows? All I know is that this better not be a musical Pirates movie!

Nerds rejoice! Evil Dead & Spiderman director Sam Raimi will be directing a featured length World of Warcraft movie. Charles Roven (The Dark Knight) will be producing the movie as well. Raimi will supervise the project & direct right after he’s done with Spiderman 4. While I can’t stand the game and the people that play it with their lame headsets, having a top notch director involved with a fantasy movie sounds pretty cool to me. Let’s hope this doesn’t suck like Spiderman 3.

How long did it take you to work on the documentary? What was your process?
It took 5 years to complete. It was very “DIY”. Steven Blush and I did everything. Booking the interviews, finding the photos and footage and I did all the editing.
