lollapalooza 2009 Recap

live_lolla2009
I did not do much planning for Lolla this year. Having attended since it’s re-inception in 2005, I decided to just pick out a few key bands and go with the flow for the most part. I’m glad I did because this was truly one of the best fests, which is saying a lot. Every year, Lolla gets a little bigger and one truly gets bogged down by day two. Unfortunately, I’ve missed a few great performances in the past due to impromptu naps. And I usually end my days with, “I’m never coming back. This is my last year doing this.” And every year Perry Farrell and co. have a knack for luring me back with their artist line-up. This year my key choices were Lou Reed. The Boss played guitar and sang on the song “The 59 Sound.” The look on Brian Fallon’s face just says it all, and that moment playing with Bruce must have been a dream come true for him. I know I’d be shitting bricks playing with Bruce. Check it out!

Blink 182, Franz Ferdinand, Weezer headline FREE Virgin Mobile Fest

news_0609_virginmobilefest09
The Virgin Mobile Fest is doing something Ozzfest has already done and is offering up FREE tickets. Sounds pretty sweet to me, I’d probably drive down if there were better bands playing. The full lineup playing the one-day fest include: Blink 182, Weezer, Franz Ferdinand, Public Enemy, Taking Back Sunday, Bravery, Girl Talk, Jet, The National, The Hold Steady, St. Vincent, Wale, and Mates Of State.
