Shane MacGowan, Johnny Depp, Nick Cave and others recording charity single for Haiti

Shane MacGowan is set to lead a group of musician/celebrity friends to record a charity single for Haiti. Besides Shane MacGowan, there will be Nick Cave, Johnny Depp, Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie and I’m sure many more people that haven’t been announced yet. The song they will be recording is a cover of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins’ “I Put a Spell On You.” I’m not sure when the song will be able for download and purchase, but I’ll keep you posted! This is a single I’ll definitely be purchasing!

Hepcat and Dengue Fever headlining Haiti Relief Concert at El Rey Theatre
In response to the recent devastating earthquakes to hit Port-au-Prince and its surrounding areas, KCRW presents and the historic El Rey Theatre hosts a Haiti Relief Concert on Saturday, February 6th. Asian Man Records donating money for Haiti relief

Mike Park and Asian Man Records are offering up an awesome Asian Man Records package worth 30 bucks. Paper + Plastick and Punknews auctions off rare vinyl test pressings
Madonna, Bono, Sting, English Beat and Justin Timberlake are not the only musicians dedicated to helping the people of Haiti during this time of tragedy, where aide is needed more than ever. Drummer of ska/punk staples Less Than Jake and owner of Paper + Plastick Records, Vinnie Fiorello has teamed up with heavyweight punk site Punknews.org to set up an auction of rare vinyl test-pressings and collectors items on www.LimitedPressing.com, of which 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Doctors Without Borders organization (www.doctorswithoutborders.org).

The English Beat doing Haiti fundraiser this Sunday
Dave Wakeling’s English Beat will be performing at a Haiti Benefit show this Sunday, January 17th 2010 in California. The show starts at 8pm and ends at 10pm, and it will be held at the Red Devil Lounge in San Francisco CA.
