Piebald announce 6-disc re-release of their extensive back catalog via Rise Records‏


Piebald was perhaps one of the most beloved bands in the hardcore/ indie rock crossover genre. Starting out in 1994, the band released a ton of songs throughout their decorated career. Some of these songs are hard to find because most of the releases they appeared on are out of print now. Well, not anymore. Rise Records is pleased to announce the re-release of Piebald’s extensive back catalog.

Pearl Jam announces tour with Band of Horses


Pearl Jam is playing Madison Square Garden again! This time I think I might get some tickets to see them live. They are band I always wanted to see live so I think now’s a good chance to do that. Especially when Band of Horses are opening! We’ll have ticket sale links when they are posted on TicketBastard. The band announced today that they will play Midwest and East Coast tour dates in May of 2010. The tour kicks-off on May 3rd at Sprint Center in Kansas City and wraps on May 21st at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Pearl Jam’s U.S. tour follows the band’s previously announced headlining appearance at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation Festival on May 1st.

Band of Horses releasing “Infinite Arms” on multiple record labels


Band of Horses will release their third full length LP, entitled Infinite Arms on May 18th through 3 various record labels: Brown Records, Fat Possum Records and Columbia Records. I guess that solves the which label are they going to release the CD on? This has been one of the most anticipated albums of the year for me so I hope it lives up to their last 2 albums. the album cover artwork will feature the photography of the band’s long time collaborator Christopher Wilson.

Fans sponsor songs to fund Camper Van Beethoven SXSW trip


Camper Van Beethoven are finding new ways to be innovative. In order to get to SXSW down in Austin, Texas, they have to spend money to do that. So they are letting their fans sponsor one of their songs, that they will play at one of the shows. For a nice chunk of change – about $100, a roller derby girl will skate across the stage with one of the fan’s names. Hmm, I wouldn’t do this but that’s just me. Maybe if the name was painted on the girl’s breasts but that’s just me and my perverted thinking. Maybe people will pay for this? I don’t know. More after the jump:

Broken Bells appear on WNYC’s Soundcheck


Broken Bells is comprised of James Mercer and Brian Burton a/k/a Danger Mouse. Their first album, also titled Broken Bells, will be released by Columbia Records March 9, 2010. I think it’s an excellent album if I say so myself!

Gossip announce U.S. Spring tour


Portland, OR rock trio Gossip will hit the road this Spring for an eight city tour of the U.S. The tour kicks off with the band taking the stage at this year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 17th and runs through April 30th at Terminal 5 in New York City (see below for full itinerary). Fronted by the incredibly bold, brash and amazingly talented Beth Ditto, Gossip’s live shows are like a dance party you hope will never end. The band’s latest release, Music For Men, was produced by multi Grammy Award winner Rick Rubin and has received accolades on both sides of the Atlantic for it’s triumphant, energetic and refreshing sound. A video for the band’s third single, “Pop Goes The World,” was directed by Philip Adelman (Jay-Z, Silversun Pickups, Maxwell) and will premiere in March.

The second Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, Tennessee during the weekend of March 26 – 28, 2010 continues to expand with Sufjan Stevens, Adrian Belew, William Basinski, Liturgy, Konk Pack, Abe Vigoda, and Ches Smith now slated to join the lineup.
