Riot Fest 2012 @ Williamsburg Park, NY (or Rain Fest 2012)

Date: September 8th 2012
Bands: Larry and His Flask, The Menzingers, Screaming Females, The Bronx
Bands That Didn’t Play (Outside): Hot Water Music, The Descendents, Gogol Bordello
Link: http://www.riotfest.org

Riot Fest 2012 is happening in select cities the next few weeks and this weekend the fest was in Brooklyn and today in Toronto. Of course, the New York City date got the shit end of stick with the weather…and some will say the lineup as well. Not to dig other bands on the bill, but the other cities had a better lineup with even more bands. Even if there were more bands in Brooklyn, that just means more bands I wouldn’t have gotten to see.

Directed By: Parris Patton
Studio: Vans Off The Wall
Official Site: http://noroomforrockstars.com/

There have been Warped Tour documentaries, behind the scenes videos, specials on broadcast TV, and anything else you can think of. No Room For Rockstars is directed by Parris Patton and is the newest Warped doc that focuses on a few bands/musicians and individuals involved with the tour. While I don’t care about any of the featured bands, it was still an interesting film.

Sleeping In The Aviary – “You and Me, Ghost”

Record Label: Science of Sound
Genre: Pop Rock
Buy on Amazon

Sleeping in the Aviary are not typically the type of band that I find myself listening to let alone pleasantly enjoying. Their songs are simple, catchy and even though most of them are rock songs, come off as very mellow…something that you would listen to with your headphones on while laying in the grass staring up at the sky.

Occupy Wall Street is happening across the country right now, spreading throughout city to state. The Occupy movement is going to other countries as well. People are fed up and downright pissed off about corporate greed and the way the world is being run. I wanted to gather up a bunch of protest, revolution, riot, anti-police, anti-government, anti-banks, etc. type of songs for a protest playlist. In the past my playlists were just articles, now you can listen to them on Spotify!
