Coolie Ranx, The New Pornographers, The Misfits, Good Charlotte and others playing Festival for Humanity in Vernon, NJ


The brand new 4-day music and art festival at Mountain Creek Resort in Vernon, New Jersey taking place over Memorial Day Weekend called the Festival for Humanity have announced Good Charlotte as one of the headliners for Saturday, May 28th! John Popper and the Duskray Troubadours have also been added for Sunday, May 29th. Other headliners include: Third Eye Blind, From Good Homes, The New Pornographers, The Misfits, Sister Hazel, Cracker, Soul Asylum, Rebbie Jackson (sister of Michael Jackson) and many more! Noah and the Whale announce tour dates for May & June


The London band Noah and the Whale will be hitting the road on a full tour across the U.S. beginning on May 24 in San Diego. The tour will include stops at major markets including Los Angeles and New York City, as well as an appearance at the Sasquatch Music Festival in Washington state. Mumford & Sons, Edward Sharpe and Old Crow Medicine Show announce ‘Railroad Revival Tour’


This April, Mumford & Sons, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, and Old Crow Medicine Show will embark on a tour unlike any in recent memory. Traveling exclusively in vintage railcars, the three bands will journey across the American Southwest over the course of a week. The aptly titled Railroad Revival Tour will feature the three bands playing concerts at six unique outdoor locations along the route, beginning April 21st in Oakland, California. This sounds like a great tour, and jealous of the South and the West for getting to see this. Maybe if it’s a success they will try to do this over on the East Coast?

Broken Bells’ Meyrin Fields EP on March 29th 2011


James Mercer and Brian Burton a/k/a Danger Mouse, collectively known as Broken Bells, will issue a four-song EP titled Meyrin Fields on March 29, 2011. The EP features the previously unreleased tracks “Windows” and “Heartless Empire,” as well as “An Easy Life” and the title track. Meyrin Fields will be available a little over a year from the March 2010 release of Broken Bells’ Grammy-nominated self-titled debut, and will be issued in vinyl, CD, softpack and digital formats.

Franz Nicolay touring with David Dondero


Hot off the heels of an east coast tour with Stornoway and a European tour alongside Jack Terricloth (World/Inferno Friendship Society) and Dave Hause (the Loved Ones), FRANZ NICOLAY has announced tour plans in support of his recently released, Luck & Courage. NICOLAY will head out on a 7 week US tour with David Dondero that will include SXSW dates. NPR’s All Songs Considered named Dondero one of their “Ten Greatest Living Songwriters”, alongside Bob Dylan and Tom Waits; and Conor Oberst calls him his biggest influence. Plus he was This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb’s drummer for a couple years. “I think this is an interesting pairing of songwriters with one foot in indie-rock and one foot in punk rock” says NICOLAY of the pairing.

Guitar-based ambient instrumental stuff. I’ll be honest – it was hard to get through this. Experimental is one thing, but long songs with softly plucked guitar and gentle percussion that fail to go anywhere are not enjoyable.
