
The 15th annual Extreme Thing Sports & Music Festival will be back in Las Vegas this year. Held Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Desert Breeze Skate Park, this year’s event will again offer fans a full day of rock and extreme sports, including a Pro BMX dirt jump competition, professional wrestling, roller derby, as well as the Vegas AmJam amateur BMX and skate competition.

Coffee Project have just finished tracking their self-produced new album entitled Moved On, which will be on Paper + Plastick. The album will come out in late Spring time. Coffee Project is friends Buddy Schaub (Less Than Jake) and Jake Crown (Rehasher), so you gotta get the album just because of that factor! The band tracked eleven songs at Schaub’s home studio and is currently mixing at Roger Lima (Less Than Jake/Rehasher) Moat House Studios.

Connecticut ska band Spring Heeled Jack haven’t played together since 2002, when they played a Dave Karcich’s memorial show which raised $8,000 for a fund in his name. Various members of the band are/were in other bands but looks like SHJ will be back for some shows in some capacity. Jr, Sax player of Less Than Jake and SHJ, confirms that the band are going to do a proper reunion show which won’t be rushed this time. Don’t know what the details are yet but I’m sure JR will post them on his blog or twitter feed sooner or later.

Madonna, Bono, Sting, English Beat and Justin Timberlake are not the only musicians dedicated to helping the people of Haiti during this time of tragedy, where aide is needed more than ever. Drummer of ska/punk staples Less Than Jake and owner of Paper + Plastick Records, Vinnie Fiorello has teamed up with heavyweight punk site Punknews.org to set up an auction of rare vinyl test-pressings and collectors items on www.LimitedPressing.com, of which 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Doctors Without Borders organization (www.doctorswithoutborders.org).

Last week (December 3) at Slim’s in San Francisco, Rock to Roll 2009 was in full effect. NOFX, Wax, Dead to Me and Nathen Maxwell and the Original Bunny Gang played blistering sets to a frenzied crowd, and when the dust had settled the event was able to collectively raise over $22,000 for UCP-Wheels for Humanity.

The weather gods were on our sides yesterday at the Toyota Pavilion at Montage Mountain in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The weather was perfect, hot at times; thankfully clouds came over in the afternoon. This year was the 15th anniversary for the Vans Warped Tour which featured punk veterans Bad Religion, NOFX, Flogging Molly, Less Than Jake, Anti-Flag, and a bunch of other bands that scream.
