Warner Bros continues to release separate Looney Tunes DVDs instead of The Golden Collections for some reason. One of the latest DVDs is a series of Tweety and Sylvester cartoons. If you don’t already own the Golden Collections, this might be something to own. If you do, there’s really no sense in getting this then.

I’ve heard lots of things about Spaceballs: The Animated Series but never seen the show. Who knows if it’s any good but some of the original cast voice the animated characters. Mel Brooks, Joan Rivers and Daphne Zuniga reprise their roles but why not Rick Moranis and Bill Pullman? I know Moranis retired but he couldn’t lend his voice for a few episodes? Not like he’s doing anything else.

The Mel Brooks sci fi classic, Spaceballs is on Blu-Ray for the first time, and like other editions, you want to have this one as well. Starring Bill Pullman, Rick Moranis and John Candy in this hysterical take on the Sci Fi genre with spoofs of Star Trek, Star Wars and Flash Gordon to name a few. Mel Brooks strikes gold with everything he works on and this film was no different. Yeah, some of the jokes are a little dated but this film still cracks me the hell up.

RIP: Dom DeLuise (a.k.a. Captain Chaos)

Dom DeLuise has passed away at the age of 75. The comedian died Monday Night, in his sleep after a long illness. I’ll always remember him for 2 roles. The director in Mel Brooks’ Blazing Saddles (“Watch me Faggots!”) and Victor Prinzim & Captain Chaos in the Cannonball Run movies (“Da-Da-Dum!!”). You might have seen him or heard in other Mel Brooks movies like Spaceballs, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Silent Movie, History of the World: Part 1. Plus other films like The Secret of NIMH, All Dogs Go to Heaven, Oliver & Company, Johnny Dangerously and lots more! Though, everyone will remember him as the sidekick to Burt Reynolds. He will be missed.

Spaceballs Blu-Ray coming out June 16th

I’m still waiting for the Spaceballs Flamethrower to officially hit the market but in the meantime, the comedy classic will debut on Blu-ray on June 16th. It will a Blu-ray + DVD combo packed with special features and is being released by MGM Home Entertainment. Also debuting is “Spaceballs: The Totally-Warped Adventures” On DVD featuring all-new cartoon parodies of film and TV from comic genius Brooks.
