ReadJunk Playlist: December 2010 (The Holiday Playlist)
We’re in the middle of the holiday season and what better way to celebrate with an overload and abundance of Jingle Bells and Santa songs! Yippee! Most of these tracks are ones I like, some aren’t but felt the need to list them anyway. I tried to find some Hanukkah songs but only managed to find a couple. I did brief blurbs for the first 30 tracks, then just listed the rest because what can you say about the same songs over and over again? If I missed a song, post it in the comments!

Bad ska puns aside, I’ve been meaning to do a ska playlist for some time now but felt like now was a good time. Pretty much, I couldn’t think of a November playlist theme. Voting songs? eh, maybe. Thanksgiving songs? Do they even exist? This November “Skanksgiving“ playlist is simply a list of my favorite ska bands and songs. The Mighty Mighty Bosstones finally played New York City, after all these years of avoiding it. Yes Yes we know the Yankees suck but that doesn’t mean you have to ignore New York guys haha! They have played New Jersey the last 2 years but haven’t played NYC in years. Last night they played a sold out (and quite packed) show at Irving Plaza. The boys from Boston (and all over now) played great and so did the openers (The Flatliners and Teenage Bottlerocket)!

Mighty Mighty Bosstones announce summer 2010 tour dates
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones have announced summer tour dates for 2010. In late August, the Bosstones will be playing California, DC, NYC, PA, and Detroit with Teenage Bottlerocket & The Flatliners. Maybe Dicky finally got some time off from announcing at Kimmel Live? NYC Fans will have a chance to see The Specials on August 22nd, and then 2 days later see the Bosstones at Irving Plaza. Not sure when tickets go on sale but I’m guessing next week sometime.

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones just released a new album called “Pin Points & Gin Joints.” Haven’t heard it yet but I’m sure it sounds awesome. Dicky and the boys played Jimmy Kimmel Live Friday night and played “Graffiti Worth Reading” and “Don’t Worry Desmond Dekker.” Dicky seemed to be having a blast, considering he’s just performing on his full-time job. The Mighty Mighty Bosstones have announced their lineup for their Hometown Throwdown shows in Boston. Bim Skala Bim and Darkbuster are returning for the shows! Also opening is the Pilfers, The Pietasters, Razors In The Night and Void Union. The shows are happening between December 26th to 28th at the House of Blues in Boston, MA.

Mighty Mighty Bosstones Asbury Park, NJ show on sale now!
Mighty Mighty Bosstones are playing New Jersey this summer, this time in Asbury Park. The show will take place on August 16th in Asbury Park at the Summer Stage. Last summer they played at the Starland Ballroom Summer Campout with the Dropkick Murphys. Catch 22 will be opening up for the Bosstones this time. Tickets are currently on sale at evil empire Live Nation.

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones are making a triumphant return after four years. The band is playing a series of shows (The Hometown Throwdown) after Christmas in Boston and playing New Years Eve in Providence, RI. Of course, those concerts were sold out in the matter of minutes. ReadJunk.com sent some questions to Bosstones bassist Joe Gittleman, who was nice enough to take the time from his busy schedule.
