Music Video: Fitz and the Tantrums – “Out Of My League”

Fitz and the Tantrums have been teasing various songs on their upcoming new album More Than Just A Dream, which comes out on May 7th. The band premiered their official music video for “Out Of My League” on MTV and VH1, I’m assuming online since those channels don’t actually play music videos. While I dig this new wave-ish song, I still prefer the band’s soulful songs.

Music Video: California Wives – “Purple”

I’ve been posting a lot about California Wives lately and well here’s another post. The band’s video for “Purple” aired on MTV of all places, during the VMA’s last night. I didn’t see it because quite frankly, I can’t watch a bunch of no talent ass-hats accept awards. But for those that missed the music video for California Wives, look no further than right here! or well…down below.

I never heard of California Wives but as soon as I heard their first single “Blood Red Youth,” I was hooked. After I heard the album, I wanted to hear it again so I put it back on. I rarely do that. California Wives have made an album that will definitely be on my Best Of 2012 list!

Listen to California Wives’ Art History album before its released!

Chicago new-wave quartet California Wives has offered an early Labor Day weekend listen of its new full length debut, Art History. The album is out next week on Vagrant, a few weeks before the band embarks on a national tour with Stars and Diamond Rings. I’ve been listening to this album all week and it’s awesome! Not sure the last time I actually loved something this much from Vagrant.

Tapping into LCD Soundsystem’s bouncy, funky dance party, but with the spare proto-electronic simplicity of Devo and Kraftwerk (and even early rap artists like Kurtis Blow), Ghostland Observatory have put together a fun album of minimalist electro booty shakers.

UK pop-rocker Al Renwick wrote this album to document his Scottish ancestors’ emigration to North America. I cringed at the thought of long bagpipe dirges, embarrassing Gaelic folk, and Residents-like proto-Americana, all with personal lyrics that no one else could possibly care about. Understandably, I delayed spinning this CD.

ATP NY adds more bands to their lineup

You think by living by Kutsher’s Country Club in Monticello, NY that I would love that their has been a music festival here for last few years. I guess if I knew who any of these bands were I’d be more excited about it. Sure I know who Iggy Pop is but the rest? Eh. I think I’d rather sit home and not deal with the traffic. Maybe I’m just not hip to the kids music these days. But lots of people will like this festival. More bands & artists have been added like Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions, Tortoise, Bardo Pond, Beak > (featuring Geoff Barrow of Portishead), Sleepy Sun, and Avi Buffalo. Read the press release below for all the info:
