Believe it or not, out of all the shows I’ve been to, I never saw a show at CBGBs. I don’t know why that is but just never did. Oh well. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the famous club, they have expanded to a music & film festival happening in NYC on October 9th-13th. I’m not really into these type of festivals (too pricey), but others might be. The info about it is below.

San Antonio’s Piñata Protest’s new video for “La Cucaracha” premiered the other day. The song is featured on Piñata Protest’s new album El Valiente which was just released on Cosmica Records and Saustex Media. Shot and directed by award winning filmmaker Jim Mendiola, the video packs over 1,000 still photographs and 144 rubber roaches into a warp speed tour through the streets of the band’s West Side neighborhood in one minute flat. Kind of reminds me of the awesome Joey Ramone music video for “New York City.”

Riot Fest & Carnival has announced its initial line-up for 2013! Riot Fest will be happening this year on September 13-15 at Humboldt Park in Chicago. Tickets are already on sale (since last night) and you can see the 3 dates starting at $69.98. The lineup is quite impressive despite some bands I could care less about. Fall Out Boy seems to be headlining but bands I actually like playing include: Motorhead, Rancid, Public Enemy, Flag, Bad Religion, DeVotchka, Screeching Weasel, Pennywise, The Lillingtons, Against Me!, GWAR, X, Bad Brains, Quicksand, The Selecter, Toots and the Maytals, Chuck Ragan, Mephiskapheles, Masked Intruder, Deal’s Gone Bad and more to be announced later! I wish I was going to this but who knows if I’ll be on vacation or not. See the entire lineup and details below!

If you like air guitar, air drumming, air bassing(?) then you’ll want to watch this Dig It Up music video of “Eyes On Me.” The band pretends to rock out in the middle of the woods with nothing but their air instruments. Eventually they play real instruments though. Sorry, should have put a spoiler tag in front of that.

More and more sites are popping up of bands playing in random places (*plug* BeforeTheConcert.com *plug*), and record labels are no different. No Sleep Records launched a YouTube Channel and now so is Fat Wreck Chords. Swingin’ Utters played a few songs at their warehouse at Fat in San Francisco and use a clever way of using a mic (by using a megaphone). I guess if you got one laying around, why not. Swingin’ Utters are playing North America to support their newest album including Bowery Electric in NYC on June 12th. Check out the video and tour dates below.
