Riot Fest 2009
The fifth annual Riot Fest took over five days and several venues and clubs in Chicago last week. From old school punks to newer acts playing, it was hard to choose which acts to see and which venue to see them at. Skipping Wednesday and Thursday night, I started off my first Riot Fest experience on Friday and saw the rest of the weekend through.

Riot Fest announces more bands: 7 Seconds, Cobra Skulls, Beer Nuts and more!
More bands have been announced for Chicago & LA’s Riot Fest, which takes place between October 7th-12th in Chicago, and November 12th-14th in LA. Bands that have been added include: 7 Seconds, Cobra Skulls, The Bomb, Beer Nuts, Deal’s Gone Bad, Das Kapital, She Likes Todd And The Pinstripes. Punk rock bowling tournament has also been announced at Chicago’s legendary Fireside Bowl Friday and Saturday, Oct 9th & 10th.

WAX reunite for Chicago’s “Riot Fest” in October
WAX released their debut album, What Else Can We Do in 1992 on Caroline Records. The album was recorded in two weeks by Ramones/White Zombie producer Daniel Rey. In 1995, WAX followed up with 13 Unlucky Numbers which featured the famous “guy on fire” video by Spike Jonze for the song “California” which MTV banned from daytime airplay.

Riot Fest show in LA happening July 11th
Riot Fest is presenting an awesome punk rock show in Los Angeles this Saturday! The show will feature The U.K.’s Vice Squad joined by Lower Class Brats, Channel 3 and The Voids! Sounds like a cool old-school punk rock show!

Butthole Surfers, Teen Idols, New Bomb Turks, 88 Fingers Louie added to Riot Fest
Round two of Chicago’s Riot Fest line up was announced today: Butthole Surfers, Naked Raygun, 88 Fingers Louie, Riverboat Gamblers, Pegboy, No Empathy, New Bomb Turks, Youth Brigade, Teenage Bottlerocket, Lower Class Brats, Teen Idols, Off With Their Heads, The Arrivals, Shot Baker, Flatfoot 56, Fear City, The Frankl Project, Anxiety High. Screeching Weasel, NOFX, Alkaline Trio, Murder City Devils,The Dead Milkmen & Cock Sparrer were previously confirmed. This makes me want to fly over to Chicago and check out this festival of shows! But I’ll probably be too broke to go.

Screeching Weasel playing Riot Fest 09
Ben Weasel announced that Screeching Weasel will playing this year’s Riot Fest in Chicago, Illinois. The Riot Fest is happening this year between October 7th-11th. Screeching Weasel will be at the Congress Theater on October 11th. Other bands announced so far are Cock Sparrer, NOFX, Alkaline Trio, Dead Milkman, and Murder City Devils. More bands will be announced June 18th. Tickets aren’t available yet.
