Fat Wreck Chords has been around since 1990, and they are celebrating their 20th anniversary a little early. They released the album in December 2009 so they jumped the gun a bit. I’m okay with that since they are celebrating the label with a kick-ass 3-disc compilation featuring classic Fat songs, as well as rare demos and songs from the Fat Club series!

Having lost count of the number of shows played over two decades across five continents, punk veterans STRUNG OUT have announced their first round of tour dates in support of the band’s seventh album, Agents Of The Underground, out September 29th via Fat Wreck Chords. In anticipation to the group’s new release, Spin.com is unveiling the first song off the album entitled “Black Crosses,” which can be downloaded here.

Strung Out celebrate 20 Year anniversary with new album
It may seem odd that a band with six studio albums, five 7-inches, two EPs, a live CD, a B-sides album, and numerous soundtrack and compilation appearances under their belts during the last TWENTY years would name their new album Agents Of The Underground. It doesn’t seem strange to the members of Simi Valley, California punk pioneers Strung Out, who will release their seventh studio album on September 29th via Fat Wreck Chords.

The latest Strung Out album off of Fat Wreck Chord is a collection of outtakes, demos, B-sides and other rarities. Some of the songs are unreleased as well. There is another compilation of Strung Out songs like this on the album The Skinny Years: Before We Got Fat. I’m sure most fans of the band already have these songs floating around, but it’s nice to have everything in one spot. The album contains 25 tracks in all and it’s a great compilation!

Strung Out is a mighty steed in Fat Wreck’s stable, consistently churning out metaltastic punk rock and eating many bundles of hay. I sat down with singer/artist Jason Cruz to discuss life, love, and their latest, “Blackhawks Over Los Angeles.” Or none of those things.
So far, in your 15+ year history, what has been the defining moment for Strung Out?
In 15 years I’d have to say the most defining moment for us would be doing this interview!
