The Rifles doing a Pledge Music campaign to release new album

The Rifles are doing a Kickstarter-ish pledge campaign with Pledge Music to release their new album. The album plans is to release it in 2013 sometime, but they need the help of the fans to release it. Like other campaigns like this, you can purchase things in tiers. Their last album Freedom Run was great so I can’t wait to hear new stuff!

Bryan’s Year In Review 2011

2011 was a great year for me personally. Got married, went to Paris for our Honeymoon, and moved to Jersey city. 2011 was also great in music and movies as well but think 2012 will be even better with movies. The Hobbit, Dark Knight Rises and the Avengers! Wowza! In 2012, ReadJunk.com/Ska Punk Other Junk will be 15 years old! The site is still going (not strongly haha, but still going). I’ll also be starting a new web venture that I’m looking forward to starting but I’ll talk more about in the upcoming months. For now, see what I liked/disliked of 2011! Happy New Year Folks!

The Rifles – “Freedom Run”

Record Label: Nettwerk
Genre: Rock
Buy on Amazon.com

Why aren’t the Rifles more popular in the United States? It’s quite a shame, and honestly; everyone else is missing out on one of the most underrated British rock bands playing right now! Their last album “The Great Escape” was brilliant and practically flawless. Their follow-up to that album is “Freedom Run,” an excellent album recorded at Paul Weller’s studio and produced by Chris Potter. “Freedom Run” is different than their previous releases, but in a good way!

The Rifles brand new album ‘Freedom Run’ will be coming out in September and it’s a pretty damn good album! I’ll have a review of it shortly but and I’ll say it gets better and better with every listen; and the first listen was excellent! To help promote the release, they filmed a music video for their new single and best song on the album called “Tangled Up In Love.”

The Rifles’ bassist and drummer leave band

The UK rock band The Rifles have experienced some lineup changes this week. In the midst of recording their followup to the awesome The Great Escape, Rob Pyne (bass guitar, vocals), and Grant Marsh (drums, percussion) have decided to leave the band. Seems like a mutual thing to me, and Joel and Lucas will still continue on with the Rifles. As long as the core group of the band is together and they are still recording music, I’ll be happy! Read the statement from Rob & the band below!
