The UK rock band The Rifles were finally in town to support their new release “Great Escape” that was just released over in North America on Nettwerk. I’ve been a fan of the band for over a year now but never had the chance to see them perform live. I finally got the chance last night to see them at the Mercury Lounge in New York City and glad I made the trek down.

Art Brut playing some more US shows
Art Brut have announced some US tour dates for 2009. The band will be playing in Hoboken, NJ and finish up in New York City on November 15th at the Bowery Ballroom. Their newest release “Art Brut VS. Satan” has been getting rave reviews and was released on Downtown Records. View the tour dates after the jump:

The Rifles full length album “The Great Escape” coming out September 15th
London-based rock band THE RIFLES are set to release their N. American debut, GREAT ESCAPE, on September 15; the foursome will celebrate by bringing their rollicking live show to the US for a handful of tour dates staring September 22 in Philadelphia, PA (full list below).

The mod rock band from the UK are finally trying to break the United States album charts. Their debut EP is currently out on Nettwerk Music Group and it serves as a great sampler of the Rifles if you never heard of them before. Their full-length album “Great Escape” was released in Europe in January but it will be released in the States this fall. I’ve been a fan of the Rifles for over a year now and glad that their albums are finally going to be released in the States.

Kaiser Chiefs to premiere on the HDNet Concert Series
‘Kaiser Chiefs Live at Elland Road’ is set to air on Sunday, May 31 at 8:00 p.m. EST on HDNet. I saw this DVD and its pretty damn cool! Kaiser Chiefs certainly know how to draw big numbers over in the UK. Many of the songs that are played are off the new album, but don’t worry; the other albums will be represented as well. If you have HDNet, be sure to watch this on Sunday. Not like there is anything else on TV…

Music Video: People in Planes – “Last Man Standing”
I saw People in Planes open for Stereophonics at Webster Hall in the Fall. They were great live but I’ve been listening to their album a lot more since then. Their song “Last Man Standing” has been getting a lot of airplay lately, especially on MSG when there are Ranger games on. So check out the music video for the song after the jump:
