Rejoice Eels fans! Following their longest ever break between 2005’s “Blinking Lights…” double album and 2009’s excellent “Hombre Lobo” comes the shortest gap between releases. Eels brand new album “End Times” comes a mere 6 months after the aforementioned “Hombre Lobo”. If it made you sad to here E and co. so happy on Hombre Lobo (a HAPPY Eels?…whatevers next?) then you’ll be over the moon to hear that Mark Oliver Everett(E) and co. are pretty much back to their bleak best on End Times.

Moneen has, yet again, produced the perfect reason to sit with, listen to, and truly appreciate an album. The World I Want to Leave Behind is a masterpiece with carefully crafted details in each track. It is important to give this record undivided attention, since a distracted listener could easily miss some of the more intricate melodies hidden in these songs. Every sound fits like a puzzle piece and sounds so natural that some of this band’s talent might go unnoticed to a casual listener. With their fourth full-length album, Moneen has once again shown impressive musicianship that continues to push their talent to a new level.

EELS being featured on MySpace “Transmissions”
Check out MySpace Music’s latest “Transmissions” session featuring EELS. The session was recorded at the Village Recorder in Los Angeles (a classic studio used by Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Supertramp, Steely Dan and many more). Four of the recordings from the MySpace “Transmissions” session are re-records from the band’s latest body of work titled HOMBRE LOBO, as well as a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Girl From the North Country” and the song “My Beloved Monster” from the 1996 album Beautiful Freak.

Japanse rock band FACT involved in serious van accident
The members of Japanese rock band FACT were involved in a serious van accident yesterday afternoon. Their Vagrant/Maximum 10 Records debut was also released yesterday. Talk about strange! The band had played a show in Montgomery, AL the night before and was headed to their next gig in Altoona, PA, when another vehicle crossed the median on Interstate 85 just outside of Atlanta, striking the band’s van and causing the two vehicles to collide head on. The van flipped over on its side.

The Hold Steady – “A Positive Rage”

I wasn’t impressed with the stuff I have heard from the Hold Steady in the past and the same goes with this album as well. “A Positive Rage” is a 2-disc Live CD/DVD documentary and fans of the band will love this record. If you’re not a fan, well then there’s no sense getting a live album from a band you don’t like.
