Folk rock band Carbon Leaf and their record label Vanguard Records are offering a free song for download in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. The song is “Pink,” which is about breast cancer. For every song that’s downloaded, Vanguard Records will donate $1 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. So even if you own the album already, why not download the song again in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. You can download the free track here.

Alternate Routes are an awesome rock band from Connecticut (of all places). I’ve seen them twice this summer and I’m sure I’ll see them again next time they are town. They are pretty cool and the singer, Tim uses an actual toolbox for some songs. You can actually hear the toolbox in this music video for “The Future’s Nothing New.” Check it out!

Carbon Leaf is quickly proving that they are one of the hardest working, touring bands in the country right now. The band is currently ending their first leg of their summer tour, which will conclude in Poughkeepsie, NY tomorrow night at the Loft (Come out to celebrate my brother and I’s 31st birthday!), and then in Portland Maine the next night. Then it’s off for another tour, this time being called “The Bear Rhymes With Woman Tour.” The band will be co-headlining with Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers.

In this video, you can see Carbon Leaf doing the same and playing the song “Drops of Rain.” Check it out after the jump:

Carbon Leaf’s latest album on Vanguard Records might take you a few listens to really enjoy it. But after that, you’ll realize the band have outdone themselves yet again. The folk rock band from Virginia has two new members, but it’s hardly noticeable. I think that’s a good thing because the new guys have fit right in. “Nothing Rhymes With Woman” is more in line with “Indian Summer” and “Love, Loss, Hope, Repeat” than their earlier, celtic/folkier albums; which is fine by me. I think from “Indian Summer” and onward the band has grown and matured as a band. This is further evidence that Carbon Leaf is one of the best touring folk rock bands around.

Virginia’s folk rock band Carbon Leaf made a stop at the Highline Ballroom Wednesday night in New York City. The band is currently on tour to support their new album “Nothing Rhymes with Woman” out on Vanguard Records. I’ve been meaning to see Carbon Leaf over the years but this was the first time seeing them. I have to say, I was thoroughly impressed with their live show! If you’ve never been to a Carbon Leaf show before, you’re missing out!
