More and more sites are popping up of bands playing in random places (*plug* BeforeTheConcert.com *plug*), and record labels are no different. No Sleep Records launched a YouTube Channel and now so is Fat Wreck Chords. Swingin’ Utters played a few songs at their warehouse at Fat in San Francisco and use a clever way of using a mic (by using a megaphone). I guess if you got one laying around, why not. Keyboardist/vocalist Jim Pedigo of the Florida ska band Magadog has passed away at the age of 50. Magadog might not have been well known as other ska bands but they were one of the pioneers in the Florida ska scene (and on Moon Ska Records). Their song “Pipeline” is one I listened to plenty of times earlier in my ska listening career and I caught the band once or twice during the many Moon Ska / Wetlands’ showcases. Jim’s awesome keyboard playing & vocals will be missed!
