Bill Hader leaving Saturday Night Live

Bill Hader, one of the few remaining funny actors on SNL is leaving after the finale this weekend. If you thought the show wasn’t funny before, well wait until Bill Hader, Jason Sudekis and Seth Myers are gone. Woof. At least this means we’ll see Bill in more movies and other things like that. Video: Swingin’ Utters Live at Fat Wreck Chords

More and more sites are popping up of bands playing in random places (*plug* BeforeTheConcert.com *plug*), and record labels are no different. No Sleep Records launched a YouTube Channel and now so is Fat Wreck Chords. Swingin’ Utters played a few songs at their warehouse at Fat in San Francisco and use a clever way of using a mic (by using a megaphone). I guess if you got one laying around, why not. Swingin’ Utters are playing North America to support their newest album including Bowery Electric in NYC on June 12th. Check out the video and tour dates below.

RIP: Jim Pedigo of Magadog

Keyboardist/vocalist Jim Pedigo of the Florida ska band Magadog has passed away at the age of 50. Magadog might not have been well known as other ska bands but they were one of the pioneers in the Florida ska scene (and on Moon Ska Records). Their song “Pipeline” is one I listened to plenty of times earlier in my ska listening career and I caught the band once or twice during the many Moon Ska / Wetlands’ showcases. Jim’s awesome keyboard playing & vocals will be missed!

RIP: Annette Funicello

Actress Annette Funicello from Mickey Mouse Club and several beach movies has passed away at the age of 70. Some people may not know this, but she was well versed in the art of skankin’. She skanked it up with Fishbone in the cheesy beach movie Back To The Beach. Her awful skankin will be missed! Ska-ska-ska…Jamaica ska!
