RIP: Richie Havens


Legendary musician Richie Havens has passed away at the age of 72. Havens is known for being the first performer at Woodstock, and playing for three hours. In 2007, he appeared and sang in the movie I’m Not There. I really regret never seeing Havens live or having the chance to photograph him. His powerful singing voice and fancy guitar playing will be missed!

A Great Big Sea concert will guarantee two things: sore hands and a good time! You’ll end up having sore hands because from clapping the entire concert! Sore hands didn’t stop me from enjoying this concert that’s for sure! The boys from Newfoundland played the beautiful event gallery at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in Bethel, NY; kicking off the 2010 concert season at Bethel Woods. Bethel Woods is located at the original Woodstock site and is perhaps one of my favorite venues to see a show. Beautiful grounds, friendly staff and just a peaceful atmosphere.

Woodstock 40th Anniversary Celebration Kick-Off


Last Friday morning, the 40th Anniversary celebrations of the Woodstock festival kicked off at the Bethel Woods Center For The Arts on the very site where the festival took place 40 years ago to the day. Richie Havens, the legendary folk musician, who opened the festival in 1969 fittingly, opened the celebrations on this glorious morning in Bethel in 2009 in front of an audience of some 200 invited guests and media.

The second concert of Bethel Woods summer concert series was an excellent one! The legendary Bad Company reunited once again to play a packed house at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in Bethel, NY. One of my favorite classic rock bands The Doobie Brothers opened up for the band and the concert was one of favorites of the year!
