Awesome British actor Bill Nighy has officially joined the cast of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1 and 2. He confirmed to the CBBC Newsground that he will be Rufus Scrimgeour in the next and final installment of the Harry Potter series. I couldn’t think of a better choice than him! Nighy said: “I will be Rufus Scrimgeour, who is the Minister of Magic and he is a very very important man.”
Even though the character of Scrimgeour makes appearances in the Harry Potter and Half-Blood Prince book, he won’t be in the movie until the beginning of Deathly Hallows. Considering that every other British actor has been in the HP series, might as well include another great actor like Bill Nighy. He’s been in recent films like Love Actually, Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and 3, and Valkyrie.
The 59-year-old, who once joked he was the “only British actor who hasn’t been in Harry Potter”, told reporters of his new role at a book festival launch.
“I am in the next Harry Potter,” he told reporters.
“I will be Rufus Scrimgeour, who is the Minister of Magic and he is a very very important man.”
Scrimgeour takes over from Cornelius Fudge as Minister of Magic towards the end of The Half-Blood Prince in the books, but you won’t see him on screen until the Deathly Hallows.
