Ben Weasel causing trouble down at SXSW

What’s with bands on Fat Wreck Chords getting into national news at SXSW? Last year it was Fat Mike and NOFX, this year it’s Ben Weasel of Screeching Weasel. Guess Ben was bashing the festival, and eventually got into an altercation with 1 or 2 female fans for throwing something at him, or spitting at him. He was then dragged out by security. Not exactly the best way to promote your new album, which is a good one by the way. No word from Fat Wreck Chords or Ben Weasel about the situation. As a result, their next show down there was canceled.
Screeching Weasel were scheduled to play last night at the White Rabbit in San Antonio, Texas, but the show was canceled following frontman Ben Weasel’s altercation with a female fan the day before at Fat Wreck Chords’ showcase at South By Southwest. Weasel had reportedly boasted that his band were to receive $25,000 for their San Antonio show while complaining they only received $250 for their now infamous set at SXSW. It was Screeching Weasel’s first appearance at the annual music festival.
