The biggest reggae festival in the country, California Roots Music & Arts Festival, just announced the first wave of artists and like previous years: it’s already impressive. Bands and artists like: Steel Pulse, Slightly Stoopid, 311, J Boog, Chronixx, Alpha Blondy and more. The festival will be taking place at Monterey County Fair and Event Center from May 25-27, 2018 in Monterey, CA.
The 2017 edition of California Roots was another smashing success that included the presence of Quincy Jones, a record breaking live stream, and class leading green initiatives including the introduction of the “Redwood Pass,” which resulted in the planting of over 800 new Redwood trees. Other new greening partnerships included the festival’s work with The Last Plastic Straw who “strive to educate the public about the absurdity of single use plastic, its effects on our health, our environment, and our oceans, with the ultimate goal to eliminate from the source, the use of single use plastic,” and local Monterey compostable company Passion Purveyors. Cali Roots’ strong greening work has lead Everfest to state, “California Roots Music and Arts Festival Is a Model for the Festival World.” More 2017 media praise came from Forbes Magazine for the festival’s impressive streaming numbers during their partnership with LiveList and WeedMaps and Billboard Magazine gave high praise for last year’s impressive lineup.
2018 looks to be shaping up into another amazing year with today’s first round artist announcement. Limited Early Bird 3-day tickets will go on sale on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 10am PST.
