On August 25 and 26 of this year, the California hardcore scene is going to get a jolt of mega proportions as “Coming of Age II” hardcore music festival is taking place. The location of this year’s event is the Trilogy Theater in Victorville, CA. This venue holds 500 people and is sure to provide the bands and show-goers with two nights to remember.

“Unlike the previous Coming of Age’ event, this year will be a mixture of bands from all over” says event coordinator Mike Hartsfield. “Besides the emphasis on some excellent bands, we will also be making a huge push with all of the local magazines, record stores, music equipment manufacturers and more to bring a sense of togetherness to our local hardcore community.

The list of bands scheduled to play is currently being put together but it looks as if a majority of the current New Age Records roster is going to be taking the stage.

“As Coming of Age I’ brought us bands such as Outspoken, Chorus of Disapproval and Mean Season, this years Coming of Age’ will not disappoint” says event coordinator Colin Duckmanton. “We are anticipating some of the best bands in hardcore today to give the scene what it needs. The only plans you need to make this August are to attend these two shows and support real hardcore.”

New to this years event is a record swap meet/vendor village that will be open before each show at the venue. This will be open to individual vendors, record labels, record stores, clothing companies and other hardcore based businesses.

“This is a different kind of fest to say the least.” says event coordinator Nicholas Lynch, “Most events like this are booked before you know it and don’t give struggling or new bands a chance. Most only spotlight bands that are already established. We want to give every band a chance, whether you are on a label or not; Big or small, we want to hear from you!”
