Sorry Folks, No Image Is Here.

Irish singer/songwriter Damien Dempsey is returning to the U.S. in support of his 6th studio album called Almighty Love. The album features Sinead O’Connor and a guest appearance from London-based poet Kate Tempest. He will be playing Bowery Ballroom on September 7th in NYC.

Upon its release in 2012, Almighty Love reached to No. 3 in the Irish charts (behind Muse and Mumford & Sons). The album is currently available in the U.S. via iTunes and at shows.

Almighty Love is an album of confidence and maturity with a more global sound and a broader scope than its predecessors. It is at once bigger and quieter, still rallying against injustice, yet with a more reflective and thoughtful tone, communicated more widely. An evolution on previous themes and concepts, yet the anthems are still there: Busting Outta Here, The Good and the Great, Community and Almighty Love.

An artist and activist who has pushed social and artistic boundaries throughout his career, Damo (as he is known to fans) melds history into poetry on 2006’s To Hell Or Barbados (about the Irish slave trade), has raised awareness with PREDA, a Philippines based children’s charity, on child exploitation and teamed with famed Irish graffiti artist MASER to create a series of street art in Dublin. Damien provided thought provoking words and song lyrics and MASER decorated the city with them. Read or watch the project.

Just a few of the reasons that London’s Sunday Times has called him “a real working class hero.”

A household name in Ireland, Damien has topped the Irish charts twice in the past year with his singles “Rocky Road To Poland” (Irish soccer World cup anthem) and “The Auld Triangle” (a charity single with Glen Hansard).

Damien has previously supported artists such as Sinead O’Connor, Morrissey (both in the US, UK and Ireland), David Gray, Bob Dylan, Willie Mason, Hot House Flowers and U2 on opening night of their 360 Tour in Dublin’s Croke Park Stadium.
