Sorry Folks, No Image Is Here.

Rocks Off Presents drunk guys jumping off boats now too! The Slackers played another sold out Rock Cruise last night and it finally got in the papers (NY Post and the NY Daily News – no surprise). Some drunk guy decided to jump ship after setting off fire extinguishers, and then trying to avoid security. Or maybe he was just trying to do an ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in the Hudson River?

The band posted about it today on their Facebook page:

A drunken man was hospitalized Saturday after he apparently leapt off the popular cruise line during a concert for the ska band The Slackers.

The boat was floating off the Chelsea Piers when the man went overboard, according to Long Island concertgoer John Wims.

“It was just out of the corner of my eye,” the 58-year-old said. “I saw something go over and heard a splash.”

The man was fished out of the water and taken to Pier 83 near W. 42nd St. before he was rushed to St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation, cops said.

Calls to the Circle Line and the concert promoter were not returned early Sunday.

A 20-something Circle Line passenger was three sheets to the wind when he started shooting off fire extinguishers during a concert cruise Saturday night, a witness said.

The boozed-up man saw only one way to flee Circle Line security guards: A desperate dive into the drink.

Police pulled him from the Hudson River near Chelsea Piers around 11 p.m. He’s unlikely to face any charges, said cops.

As on the Titanic, the music continued. “The show must go on,” said Marcus Geard, bass man for The Slackers, the rock band that played the cruise.

The Slackers have been playing concert cruises for 14 years, and this was the first time an audience member jumped off a boat, Geard said.

“At the end of the show we made the announcement that everyone was OK and no one was hurt,” he said.
