Fest 8 announced for October 30th-November 1st
Music News | Jun 10th, 2009
Fest 8 has been announced by No Idea Records yesterday, and the 3 day festival will be held between October 30th to November 1st. The Fest 8 will take place at 8 venues over three days in Gainesville, Florida. None of the bands have officially been announced yet but head organizer Tony Weinbender had this to say about what is to come:
“Last year I think we had 266 bands/artists perform. It was an amazing task and even more baffling that we pulled it off and everything ran so smooth. However, as much as I love trying to have everyone play, it’s really taxing on all of us who put it together. So, we are planning on scaling back on the number of bands to the 200-ish range. This will allow us more time to do what we do and allow every band/artist to have a minimal 30-minute set. I can’t say who we have cooking yet but I can say that you can expect a healthy dose of repeat FEST bands as always. We’re very lucky that so many of the bands love their time in Gainesville with us so much that they return to play year after year. We’re shooting for a July 1st launch of the full blown website with our first big batch of bands to announce, shirt designs, and tickets for sale.”
The annual event started on May 24th and 25th of 2002 with 60 bands and a handful of venues. A weekend pass will still be cheap at $60 in advance and $80 weekend of.
Here are some of the notable bands who’ve played years past:
