I Went For A Walk, and kept on going Around the bend, outside the box and out of this world, this new children’s book explodes off the

page with the energy of a great rock song. Like a great song, it fills your heart with imagination and inspiration. Greg Attonito, singer for the punk band “The Bouncing Souls” has teamed up with his multi-talented wife Shanti Wintergate to create this unique and evocative offering a chapter book for the precocious pre-schooler. Both Shanti and Gregory are successful, independent artists, so it’s no surprise that I Went for a Walk will be published by their own imprint, Hollywood Jersey. Their slogan, “Making something from nothing since 1997” (the year they met) captures the essence of how the pair lives each day. Together they explain it as “the ability to create something beautiful from what appears to be nothing. It’s something anyone can do because it’s what comes from inside of you! All you need is a little imagination and a lot of determination.” They are both very excited to enter into the world of children’s books, and they plan on visiting schools, libraries and bookstores with guitars in hand to support the release of their creation into the world with music, readings and signings across the country.

With your help, we can make this happen and bring a great event to kids in your community!

Book Reading Program Details
Our reading/music program for “I Went for a Walk” is approximately thirty minutes long. It would run as follows:
– 10-15 minute reading of the book
– 2 or 3 acoustic guitar songs by Greg and Shanti with a sing-a-long or two
– A short discussion with the kids about the story or whatever topics arise from the experience.
– Bookmarks with our contact and ordering info passed out to all the kids.
*We would love parents to be informed and invited.
*Depending on the situation, we can arrange to sign and sell books after the program.
* This program can be extended to 45 min.
* We can supply you with posters for the event that you can distribute and hang where you see fit.

In schools we would prefer groups of 30 or less when possible. The kids will potentially get more out of the experience and hold their attention more easily if the groups are smaller. We are able to do 3-4 programs per day. With library or bookstore appearances, the more in attendance the better! We suggest making more of a little event out of it, by including another program after, i.e. arts and crafts. There’s actually a character in the book that’s blue with bright yellow feet and we thought it might be fun for the kids to create their own little blue and yellow friend. Just and idea for a simple craft project.
We have no set fee but if the school, library or bookstore has a budget for this kind of thing we would appreciate the purchase of a few books to help with our expenses. We understand many of our schools have had art and music programs cut entirely so we are willing to work with you to make this program happen.

We are artists and musicians who were (and still are) kids at heart. We see the importance of the arts in educationvand will truly enjoy bringing our book to help inspire kids and teachers to see new and different possibilities in themselves.
Thanks
Shanti & Gregory
